The next morning, I woke up in my comfortable bed with a smile on my face. I slept like a fucking baby. On our way back yesterday, Damon informed me that he had bought the Obsidian Hotel because we were staying there. And so we wouldn’t be disturbed by

commoners.

The smile on my face cleared when I remembered that today was his first treatment. It was the first time I’d be treating him, and I had nothing to do. Fuck, how would I tell him that it’s not like I’m a professional, how will I tell him that I didnt even know what I was doing?

My heart was thumping against my ribs as I walked into his suite. To be honest, I was panicking. I wasn’t experienced at all, everything I knew about his sickness waa coming from a weird, deeprooted instinct that had only woken up when I met him.

Damon was standing by the window, his back turned to me

You’re late, Miss Doctor,he said, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the floorboards.

had to get my supplies.I lied, clutching the bag of herbs that I picked up from different places. I didn’t even know what they were, but I knew that they all looked important.

He turned around, and even with those dark shades on, his gaze was burning through me. Without a word, he started unbuttoning his black silk shirt.

What are you doing?I asked in panic as he tossed his shirt into a chair, leaving his chest bare.

We are supposed to start treatment today, and how’re you going to know what’s wrong if you don’t check me out?he said, and I gulped, realising that he was right.

Is there a problem, doctor?he asked me, and I shook my head frantically, trying not to look at his body.

But I couldn’t help myself; I finally gave in and looked. I froze, my mouth completely dry. He was perfect, his muscles were hard, defined, and dusted with a tan. But what caught my eye was a single tattoo over his hearta black rose. The petals looked so real, like they were dipped in midnight.

Damon caught me staring, and a cocky, slow smirk spread across his lips. Cant stop looking, huh? Don’t worry, Miss Doctor. I know I’m a lot to take in.

I snapped my eyes to his face, blushing furiously, which was strange because this had never happened to me before. I wasn’t the type to blush because a man was looking at me or because I was caught staring at a man’s body.

I used to see a lot of men train and work out when I thought Edward and I had something special, and even Edward didn’t make me

blush.

Im checking for….my eyes rolled around looking for a word. Inflammation. Be quiet.

Yes, ma’am,he said with a small smile, and I started looking at every other place but his face. So, I’ve been looking at houses in the area today,he said casually, as if he wasn’t standing there half naked. Somewhere more permanent, you know. The houses here are too small for me, maybe I should just build a whole Palace? Because this pack needs a palace if I’m going to stay here.

You’re really staying here?I asked, surprised. I knew he said it yesterday, but I guess I chose not to believe it.

Yeah, were you not listening yesterday? I’m bored of the capital city. And I’m not leaving my doctor behind. Plus, you could come with me anywhere I go, but you want to destroy your enemies, and those said enemies stay here. So it’s just better to stay here,

too.

i didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that he was moving his capital, at least partly, because of me.

I stepped closer, my hands trembling. As I reached out to touch his chest, something strange happened. It was like I fell into a trance; it was a familiar feeling from the time I diagnosed him. My mind went quiet, and my body took over. The moment my fingertips brushed his skin, a massive zap of electricity shot through me. I gasped, but I didn’t pull away. I began to move my hands over his torso, feeling the heat of his skin.

Everywhere I touched felt like a brand. My skin tingled, and a heavy ache of sweat started to build in my stomach.

Do you takeblood moon fern tea?I asked, my voice sounding airy and distant to my own ears.

Never heard of it,he said, and his breath hitched when my fingers moved closer to his abs.

You need it,I murmured. And Silverthorn root. It will help stop the burning in your veins.

I’ll have my men find it,he said.

I came out of whatever I was suddenly, blinking rapidly. My hand was resting right over the black rose tattoo. I quickly pulled back, my face on fire.

I….I need to see your eyes.I said, trying to regain my composure.

Damon’s jaw tightened, and his face became tight. No.

Damon, I’m serious. The sickness starts in the blood, but it first shows in the eyes. If I’m going to treat you, I need to see.

The truth was, I was dying to see them. I wanted to know what he was hiding behind those dark lenses. He stayed silent for a long time, the tension was unbearable. Finally, his hand went up to the side of his head. He slowly pulled the shades away, and ! stopped breathing.

His eyes were the most beautiful, haunting things I had ever seen. If kids, or even adults, saw these eyes, it would scare them. But it didn’t do that to me; his eyes pulled me in.

He had what professional doctors would call heterochromia, two different colors. His left eye was a piercing ocean blue, like a frozen ocean. His right eye was a shimmering metallic silver grey. They glowed with an ancient, predatory power.

I was completely immersed, I couldn’t look away, and it seemed like he couldn’t either. He leans in closer, his face just inches from mine: I could smell his scent, sandalwood, rain, and pure male dominance.
