I spent the rest of the night sitting by Aunt Laura’s bedside. Her breathing was steady now, thanks to the quick treatment I gave her. I didn’t want to think of what would have happened if I were not here to provide that treatment; if she were left alone for too long like that, she could have died. The paleness of her skin reminded me of how close I came to losing the only mother figure I had.
Beside me, Olivia was a mess of tears and anger. She kept looking at the door, as if expecting her father to come in and apologise to her mother, but men like me didn’t apologise; they only looked for more to steal.
“He said I was a failure,” Laura said when she woke up briefly at dawn. Her voice was cracked and thin, “He said, because I only gave him a daughter, I wasn’t a real wife. He’s been keeping that woman and his son away for five years. Five years of using my money to feed his bastard
son.”
“Wait, he has a mistress?” I asked, shocked at this revelation.
“Yes, he does. I can’t believe that he has the nerve to call me and tell me he is in town with his new wife, and that I should back off and never show up at the colony again. My own company.” Laura sobbed.
“He is also in this pack right now?” I asked her, and she nodded.
“He knows that you’re not human?”
“Yes, he does. He realised it on the full moon nights, there was no way I would have kept it from him.”
I squeezed her hands. “He’s going to regret every cent he spent, Aunt Laura. I promise you that. By the time I am done with him, he won’t even have anything to wear.
Damon had left later that night after leaving a kiss on my forehead and my lips, promising to show up later. He even sent us a fruit–and–food basket earlier. That man, I didn’t know how to thank him for being such strong emotional support; he even called me this morning. The first thing that woke me up was his call and see voice.
By ten o’clock that morning, the fire that was burning in my heart had turned cold. I dressed in a sharp, all black suit that made me look like the Queen I was. Damon showed up fifteen
minutes earlier, and he was waiting for me by the foyer, looking like a d, looking for
destruction.

I had told him earlier that I would do this by myself, but he blatantly refused. He said he wasn’t going to allow me to go there alone, plus the man sounded like someone who needed to be used to some violence before he came to his senses.
“Let’s go.” I said when I was done.
Olivia was on my tail; she had also insisted on coming with us. We had to hire one of the nurses from the pack hospital to go and stay with Laura for the time being. Olivia needed to see the monster that her father had become, which was why she wanted to come along.
Apparently, he was staying at the Obsidian Hotel; he had enough funds to do so, spending my aunt’s money, and he still had the guts to act like he was the company’s owner.
We reached the eighteenth floor and walked straight to suite 1808.
Damon didn’t bother knocking; he was the owner of the hotel, so he could do whatever he wanted. He placed his hand on the handle and used his Lycan power to burst the door open like a twig. He kicked the door open, the sound booming through the hallway like a thunderclap.
Inside, the suite was filled with expensive candles and perfumes. Ryan was sitting on the sofa, a glass of scotch in his hand, while a woman with bleached blonde hair sat next to him. And a small boy who had the same blonde hair was sitting in the middle, playing games on a tablet.
Ryan jumped to his feet the moment he saw us. “Olivia darling,” he said when he saw his daughter. “Eloise, what the hell are you doing here? What is the meaning of this? You can’t just break into my hotel.”
I didn’t say anything, I walked straight to the center of the room, my heels clicking sharply on the marble floor. Damon followed, his presence so suffocating that the mistress let out a small whimper and pulled her son behind her.
“The meaning is simple, Uncle,” I said in a smooth and dangerous tone. “You almost killed my Aunt with your greed, and now I’m here to collect a debt.”
Ryan tried to puff out his chest, looking all macho man and stuff, but he only looked pathetic to me. “This is a family matter. Laura is my wife, and she failed me. I needed an heir, a son. I
you call found a woman who could actually provide what she couldn’t. Now leave, before security.”
“Call them,” Damon growled, stepping forward. His eyes were glowing, bright, and lethargic. under his shades. “I’d love to see them try to remove the Lycan King from his own hotel.”
Ryan’s eyes went gray; he finally looked at Damon, realising that I wasn’t alone and that I was with the most powerful wolf on earth. The scotch glass in his hand began to tremble.
