Chapter 199 Another Meeting
ELOISE
“What? Why are you blowing up my phone?” I asked.
There was a pause on the other end before Antoune’s voice came through, irritated
“It took you long enough to answer,” he said

“I can decide to do anything I want to do; you didn’t get this phone for me, so get right to what you have to say if you don’t want me to hang up on you,” I told him.
“You rude little-” he paused.
“Say what you called to say,” I said.
“Why weren’t you picking up?” his tone sharpened.
I let dut a short and dry laugh. “And since when is that your concern?”
He was silent before he started ranting again. “Don’t forget, you’re still tied to us. That contract—”
“It is irrelevant.” I cut him off calmly
Zara glanced at me, clearly enjoying this
“You seem very confident,” Antoine said, and he didn’t sound pleased at all
“Tam,” I replied. “Now, what do you want?”
There was a brief pause before he spoke again, his voice more controlled this time
Antoine was the calm one. He was very calm, and he hated acting out of character (could picture him using his hand to slick his hair back. He was like a perfectionist, his hair was never out of place, and he was always prim and proper If Antoine were a movie character, he would be Elijah Mikaelson from The Originals
Yeah, he was that bad.
“Come to the house. We need to talk,” he said in a calm voice.
I tilted my head, considering it. This was interesting, i wondered what they needed from me again.
“About?” I asked.
“You’ll find out when you get here.” I almost laughed.
Of course. Always vague and controlling, but I was the least bothered. They were just ants to me now, and I had bigger fish to fry.
I thought about the invitation, which was more like a trap, for a moment before deciding what I was going to do. After a while, the
answer came to me.
“Fine, I’ll come.” I said, and Zara raised an eyebrow at me as I ended the call.

“You’re actually going?” she asked me. She understood that every meeting in that house was like walking into a trap, but i didn’t have any choice: I had to. Until Damon helped me find a way out of that goddamed contract, then I had to make them feel like they had some hold on me.
Speaking of Damon, it’s been a week since our movie night. We have been sleeping in the same room, but keeping our hands off each other, and Damon was being too good at it, which annoyed me. He didn’t even touch me; he would cuddle me to sleep, and the next morning, he would be gone.
(know I asked for it, but I wanted him to lose control. I didn’t like that he was in control of the whole situation while I was about to lose my fucking shit. The tension has been higher, but I don’t think it affected him. But we have been having great conversations if we were to look at it. And he was always going for sweet things.
The only issue I had with him right now was that he was doing too good a job of keeping his hands off me, and did I mention that I hated it?
“Yes,” I said, finally answering Zara, clearing the thought of Damon out of my mind. “I will go, I don’t want them to suspect anything yet, so I have to,” I told her, and she nodded.
“Okay, just be careful,” she said, and I nodded

The next morning felt too calm for what I knew I was walking into, the drive to the Lockwood estate was too quiet, the roads stretching endlessly ahead of me as if giving me time to rethink my decision, but I didn’t. I had already made up my mind the moment I agreed to the invitation yesterday.
By the time I stepped out of the car, the estate looked the same as it always had Grand and imposing, plus it was cold in a way that had nothing to do with the weather. For a second, I just stood there, taking it in. Before walking inside, I still felt like I belonged here, but deep down, I knew I didn’t I never even belonged from the beginning,
The guards didn’t stop me as I entered. I felt my bodyguards station themselves, and some followed me
I moved through the halls without hesitation, my steps steady on the polished floors. Nothing had changed here either. The same silence, the same controlled atmosphere. The same feeling of being watched even when no one was around,
When I stepped into the main sitting room, they were all already there
