“I haven’t ignored anything. I’ve just chosen not to entertain things that don’t concern me.”

“Thats not how it works.” Julian cut in, the veins in his neck poking out. He looked like he might lose a vein if he wasn’t careful. I looked at him briefly, then back at Antoine. “So what exactly do you want?”

There was a brief pause before Antoine replied to me.

“You’l be participating in the Lunar fashion night.”

I almost smiled. Of course, there it was. They always had something up their sleeve. I leaned back slightly with a cold and calm expression on my face.

“No,” said.

The word landed flat and firm. I noticed Summer shifting in her seat, her eyebrows knitting together slightly. And Julian looked more and more murderous. The way he looked should not be comical, but I almost laughed at it.

“This isn’t optional,” Julian said. I could tell he really wanted to shout that at me, but he must have used all the self–control he had to stop himself.”

“It is for me,” I replied.

Antoine exhaled slowly, clearly irritated now. “You don’t get to pick and choose, the event is important to the family, to the pack, and also for our reputation.”

I tilted my head at him. “Then send someone who actually wants to represent you. Right, Summer?” I asked, directing my gaze to

her.

“Shes already participating. The goal is for the two Lockwood daughters to participate in the fashion night. That would make things better and make us have a united front to the people of our pack and other packs that would be in attendance,” he explained.

“Are you sure you need me because I’m a daughter of this family? Or could you maybe want to use the fact that I’m the queen to sell out this fashion show more?” I asked, a smirk on my face, knowing their plan “Imagine,” I said, using my hand to imitate a poster. “The Lycan Queen will be participating as a model in the lunar fashion night. I believe that will attract more of the crowd.” I said, and they all dropped silent.

As in pin drop silence.

“Isn’t that the plan here?” I asked with a smile.

After they recovered from the fact that I knew what they were up to, Julian finally opened his mouth to talk

“Thats not the point,” he snapped.

“Then what is?” I asked in a steady voice, showing that whatever he had going on didn’t intimidate me.

I noticed Summer, noticing the way she carried herself, soft on the outside but calculating on the inside. She wasn’t trying to convinice me; she was trying to position me. Use me and somehow still come out on top.

“You’ve already planned everything, haven’t you?” I said quietly, but no one answered.

That was answer enough. I let out a small breath, my finger tapping lightly against my knee as I thought it through Refusing outright would only push them to tighten their grip on the contract. And right now, I didn’t need resistance.

I needed access.

I needed proximity, and this was the perfect stage for everything I had planned

“Fine,” I said, and the word shifted the room immediately. Antoine straightened shightly, Julian’s expression eased by a fraction, and Summer smiled.

“I’ll do it.” I continued, my tone calm but firm. “I’ll participate in the lunar fashion right”

There was a brief silence, like they weren’t expecting me to agree easily. But i wasn’t finished

“I’ll be handling it my way, and I won’t be taking any instructions on how to present myself”

Julian frowned slightly. “Thats not how–”

“Thats exactly how it is.” I cut in smoothly

He held my gaze for a moment, clearly weighing whether to continue the argument, and finally leaned back after a while.

“Fine. As long as you show up and perform as expected”

“Is that all?” I asked.

“For now.”

I picked up my bag, glancing at them one last time.

“Oh, and about the contract.-”

That got their attention. “I’ll let you know what I decide to do with it,” I said.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Julian narrowed his eyes slightly, and I smiled.
