I sat on the edge of my bed in my private room, staring at my hands, which were still stained green from the sun–drop herbs.

Ive been ignoring the weird trances that I’ve been getting into ever since I met Damon, but I didn’t think it was easy to ignore anymore. I keep saying I learned everything when I lived with the rogues, but they didn’t teach me anything about medicine; they taught me how to survive.

But when someone around them is in danger, it just comes out. You’re good at this, Eloise, really good.”

“I hope so,” I whispered. “I’m going to need everything I can do to survive this.”

Just then, the Elder entered the hallway, ringing a small bell.

“Gather around, girls.” He called out. “As promised, you have fifteen minutes with your devices to check in with your families. Only fifteen minutes, then they must be returned.” There was a mad dash as the girls scrambled to the standard room.

I followed behind, feeling a bit nervous; I hadn’t seen what the pack was saying about me. I expected the worst; I expected them to be still laughing at me, the rogue daughter.

The elder handed me my phone, and I stepped into a quiet corner, turning it on. My screen immediately lit up with notifications.

The social media platform used only by our territory was going wild. I clicked on the live feed from the Luna Trials.

Is that really Eloise? She’s incredible.

Look at the way she handled that scorpion. She didn’t even flinch.
