“I hate her so much!” 1 hissed under my breath, my eyes darting towards Eloise. She was sitting in a corner, looking calm and innocent, acting as if she hadn’t just ruined my life. Even her breathing was annoying me.

Every single comment on the pack feed was about her; they were calling me a baby, they were saying I was useless, me! The girl who spent thousands of dollars on training and dresses for this damned trial.

I couldn’t take it anymore, so I hurried into the bathroom and locked the stall door. I quickly clicked the video call button for my brothers; it only rang once before their faces appeared. My mother was standing behind them, looking worried.

“Summer, darling, we just saw the feed,” my mother started with a pinched face.

“Did you see what that freak did?” I screamed, though I was trying to keep my voice down because anyone could hear me. “She’s making me look like an idiot, she did some weird magic of whatever with those herbs, and now the whole territory thinks she’s better than I am!”

Julian narrowed his eyes. “Calm down, Summer. We saw everything. You’re getting worked up over nothing. We would take care of

it.”

“She’s winning, Julian.” I felt tears of hot rage stinging my eyes. “She slapped my hands away in front of everyone! And now the Elders are looking at her like she’s some kind of saint. If she wins these trials, I’ll be the laughing stock of this pack forever.“.

Antoine leaned closer to the camera with a dark expression. “She isn’t going to win, remember the plan, Summer. We need her to fail so she’ll sign over those company shares. If she becomes the Queen, we lose everything, Father will lose the business, and we will be broke, and these are reasons why we can’t let her win.”

“Then do something!” I stomped my feet on the ground. “She’s too fast and smart, it’s like she knows things she shouldn’t know. I can’t do much from here because there’s a fucking drone watching all my moves.”

Julian and Antoine shared a look; a slow, mean smirk appeared on their faces. “Dont worry. We have already been talking to the Elder. You know we have connections in that house, and we have people who owe us. But more importantly. We have the secrets of almost all of them in our hands, so you just relax.”

“What are you going to do?” I ask, wiping my eyes.

“We need to slow her down,” Antoine said coldly, “If she’s so good at healing, let’s see how she handles being the one who needs a healer. We are going to arrange a little accident for the next task. Something that will hurt her enough to make her quit, but not enough to kill her–at least not yet.”

“Antoine!” Mother said in a strict tone,

“What? We need to be prepared because desperate times call for desperate measures.”

“Maybe a broken leg?” Julian interrupted them with a shrug. “Or a nasty fall? If she’s limping, she can’t complete the mountain task, she’ll have to forfeit, and once she drops out, she’ll be desperate, and that’s when we make her sign the papers.”
