She’s got me distracted, and if there’s one thing I don’t like being, I don’t like being distracted. She is invading my space, and I’m not sure if I like it yet.

I’ve not been able to take my eyes off the screen since she started the Luna Trials. She said she wanted to see my eyes.

My eyes, the eyes that scare people, the eyes that made people call me a monster – these eyes have been like this since I was a kid. I remember every kid calling me a monster and a scary bot.

My childhood was not good; it was bad. It got to a point that I started wearing shades like I am now, but I was bullied, and anytime kids saw me wearing them, they would beat me to a pulp, breaking the sunglasses. The only thing I could do at that point was defend myself, so when I started high school, I began learning how to fight intensely. Any kid who tried to bully me always regretted it.

But they still called me a monster.

And I’ve not removed my shades in public ever since then. But Eloise….

She said my eyes were beautiful.

How?

I know that I look like a monster. I can see it for myself. Nobody would ever want to be close to me because of this. I was a monster, and even my own parents were scared of me.

The thought made me laugh.

People think I killed my parents; well, I did. But just my father.

He was a bastard, but that’s a story for another day.

I pushed the thought aside as I stared at her, the woman who had been living rent–free in my head ever since I met her. They were being addressed by the Elder right now, and she was listening keenly to what he was saying as her life depended on it.

One thing she didn’t know was that even if she didn’t win, I wasn’t planning on taking any of the other women who were competing with her. At this point, she might be the one I take.

Should I add it as a clause in the contract she said I should draw up? Perhaps I should add that she would marry me in exchange for destroying her enemies, and she would also treat me well,

But would she like that?

On that note, I took out my phone and dialed the Elder’s number. I watched as he checked his ringing phone, and he picked up immediately after bowing slightly.

“Your Majesty,” he said with a shaky voice.
