Chapter 42 Let’s Get Married

He didnt answer me immediately; I asked, and he turned his back and walked over to where his phone was. He started tapping on his phone and wondered if this man just ignored me to be on his phone.

But who was I kidding? It’s not like he cares or anything like that. I was about to turn and leave the ruthless Lycan King alone when he raised his phone.

“Come on, look at it,” he said, and I went closer to see what he was referring to.

It was a picture of a woman who looked older than I and even him. Then I saw the resemblance.

“Your mum,” I whispered.

“Yup, and do you look anything like her?” he asked, and I shook my head immediately.

“Good,” he said and dropped the phone on his table.

“So what is this? Why do you call me that?”

“Because I can, ma. Because I want to, and because that’s what comes to mind anytime I see you. I–I”

What? Was the great and ruthless Lycan King stammering?

“Maybe it’s an endearment,” he rushed out, and I almost laughed at how comical he looked.

Being silent and not saying anything would make it awkward, so I decided to abandon the topic for today. We would pick it up another time, I guess.

“Lie down, I need to do my own check–up,” he smirked, and then took off his shirt before lying down.

“While you’re at the business of stripping, remove your glasses too,” I told him. He hesitated a bit before doing as I asked; his body was a bit of a distraction, but I decided that I wasn’t going to let it affect me,

“You should be used to me seeing your eyes by now,” I told him, and he just shrugged.

I checked his torso for any blood blockage or any signs and scars because I just automatically know that I need to check for them. But he seemed to be fine.

“Do you feel any pain around this area?” I asked, pressing down on his bicep.

“No, ma.”

“Do you have issues breathing, or have you been having issues with breathing lately?”

“No, I haven’t.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Yes, I’ve not noticed anything different. I’ve not just been able to sleep properly.”

“Okay, I guess the tea I asked you to take is already working. Now we need to work on getting you to sleep.”

He looked like he was thinking for a while before he replied to me.

“I did get a good sleep one night while you were gone,” he said, and I nodded.

“Okay, that’s good. Can you walk me through the things you did the evening before you slept?” I asked him while sitting beside

him.

“Hmmm, I’ll tell you another time,” he said..

“Why not now? I think it will help you get well, and we need to focus on that. So please, walk me through your activities.”

“Im not sure you’d want to hear the things I did.”

“And why is that?” I raised one eyebrow, curious as to what he meant.

“You want to know that badly?”

“I don’t want to know badly, I want to know because it’s going to help you.”

“You,” he said simply.

“Im sorry, what?”

“You heard me, you.”

“Im confused. How am I what you did before you slept?”

“Because you are,”

“Do you not want to get better? I’m trying everything I can here so you’ll get better, but if you’re not going to help me make you better, then there~”

“Just know that you will help me sleep better,” he interrupted.

I held in my frustration and decided that I wasn’t making any headway with him, so I might as well just forget the whole thing.

“Okay.”

“What’s our next game plan with your enemies. We need to start moving in fast,” he said, and I nodded.

“You’re right, they asked me to come see them tomorrow, so tomorrow, before the party that announces who you are going to choose, I’ll go there and see what they have to say. But I know it’ll be all about the shares of the company that I have.”

“Do you need me to come in? Like maybe take away all the company shares from them?” he asked, and I shook my head.

“No, no. I can handle them; the real revenge plans start tomorrow. The moment the party is done and you announce your Queen, we will start destroying them.”

“You know I’m not picking anybody as my Queen, right?”

“You’re supposed to pick the winner, and that’s me, which isn’t happening. So I guess you’d have to pick from the other girls.”

“What if I chose you?” he asked me, putting his sexy arms around the back of his head, while staring at me intently.

“And why would you do that? You don’t even like me, and you don’t look like you want to be tied up.”

“I don’t mind being tied up by who I want. But listen to this: what if we actually got married? We can draw up another contract if you want. You help me sleep better, and I give you money this time around since I’m already helping you destroy your enemies for treating me medically.”

I almost choked on my laughter. This was funny. Why would he even want to do this?

Did I need money? I hadn’t thought about that; I only have 30% of the shares that Grandma gave me, and that’s not enough to make me rich. But did I want to be rich? I’ve not had these thoughts before.

“How much are you willing to pay?” I asked.

“Well, how about I draw up a blank cheque, and you write any amount of money you want?” he said, and I looked into his eyes to see if he was actually being serious.

“Wait, you’re being for real? You want to write me a blank cheque so that I can get married to you because I make you sleep better? And I don’t even understand how I make you sleep better.” I murmured the last part to myself.

“The only condition I’ll have is that we will both sleep in the same bedroom, on the same bed,” he said.

“Why?”

“Because, as I said, you make me sleep better, and according to you, for me to get better, I need to sleep better.”

I felt like I was making a life–changing decision that could either ruin me or set me up for life. I also have to look out for myself. I thought. After a few minutes of thinking, I made my decision.

“Draft the contract up and let’s get married.“.
