I sat in the private room of my club, tapping my fingers on the table. This was the most expensive club in the city, and I had it built the moment I set foot in here. It’s done because I had the best people on it.

I usually loved the quiet here, but I couldn’t stop looking at my watch because a confident woman was supposed to be here by now, and she was keeping me waiting, which wasn’t making me concentrate on anything.

“Are you going to keep doing that? You’re making me nervous.” Sebastian said.

Sebastian was an Alpha, and we had been friends for a while. He was the only one who could stand me and my tantrums, but like every other person, he hadn’t seen my eyes, except for my doctor, of course.

“Do what?” I asked, trying to sound bored.

“Checking the time every thirty seconds,” Sebastian laughed. “Who are you waiting for, Damon? Or are you just trying to run me out of here?”

“Dont worry about it, it’s not your business.” I snapped, leaning back in my chair, trying to look calm.

But Sebastian being Sebastian. He didn’t let it go. “Come on. The whole pack is talking. People saw you with a woman, and she is also beautiful. Is that who you’re waiting for? Wait? Is the great Lycan King falling in love? Are you about to get married? Well, I’ll be damned.”

I felt a flash of heat in my chest. I didn’t like other people talking about her that way. The way I felt, if it were possible to lock her up in a castle, I would.

But Sebastian looked like he didn’t believe me. Like I was saying, rubbish. “A doctor? Really? Is that why your scent has changed? You smell like something has changed.”

“What does that even mean?” I asked him because he always came up with some weird narrative. “She is helping me. The sickness that I’ve killed doctors over, she saw me at once and knew what was wrong, so that’s what we are doing.”

Sebastian whistled. “That is impressive as fuck, even your best healers couldn’t find what was wrong.”

“Which was why I killed them all, I mean, why were they wasting my resources?”

“Whatever. She must be special, and if she’s as hot as the pack members say, then I can’t wait to meet her.”

The moment he said the word “hot,” my wolf growled deep in my chest. He didn’t like it, and I felt a sudden wave of

possessiveness, I didn’t want Sebastian looking at her; I didn’t even want him thinking about her. Hell, I didn’t want anybody to see or think about her.

“Watch your mouth,” I said in a low and dangerous voice. “Dont talk about her like that.”

“Easy, tiger. Possessive much? Come on, man, I was just joking. Relax.”

Just then, there was a light knock on the door, and my heart skipped a beat because I could smell who was outside. The familiar scent of roses hit my nose without warning, and I inhaled it.

The door opened, and Eloise walked in.

I stopped breathing for a second. She was wearing a simple dress that hugged every curve on her body; it looked modest, but to be honest, it looked incredibly sexy, and suddenly, I wanted to gauge Sebastian’s eyes as they gazed at her.

Sebastian stood up and gave her a charming smile. “So you’re the famous doctor, I can see why Damon is so overprotective of you,” he said with an unnecessary smile. Why was he smiling?

“It’s an honor to meet you and thank you for treating my friend.”

“Nice to meet you too, and it’s my pleasure.”

Sebastian was about to sit down again when Eloise suddenly looked like the way she always looked anytime she was prescribing me something, like she was in a trance.

“Something is wrong with you,” she said simply.

“Umm??”

“You’re sick.”

“Yeah, a bit. I’ve been trying to take some drugs to-”

“No, no. This is a drug matter. It’s your lungs. You need to take some extra measures. It’s decaying,” she said.

“What?!!!”

“Yeah. You need to have some wild ginseng. You’ll be fine after that,” she told him, and her eyes immediately came down from the

trance.

“Wild ginseng? That’s extremely rare around here. It’s only seen with the Japanese and the North Koreans, and we know how they can be.” I said, but Eloise could only shrug.
