The palace has been crowded with elders for three days since Damon killed Jabari. And Damon didn’t give a fuck, he wasn’t attending ti the elders. He granted them one meeting in the throne room, and when what they were saying didn’t sit well with him, he walked out on them and told them to close the door on their way out.
The Elders didn’t condone that behaviour, so I knew it would cause problems, which is why I was doing what I was doing right now. After hours of pleading with Damon, he finally let me out of the house with my security details as promised, of course.
It felt weird, but I knew I would get used to it, and he released me with one final warning. He told me to always have my phone with me, and anytime he called or messaged me, I should answer immediately.
The whole thing was overwhelming because nobody had cared for me like this before, and I was still trying to process how it made me feel.
Damon had protected me, and now it was my turn to protect him.
Walking into Jabari’s office was like stepping into a den of filth. The room still smelled of his heavy cigars and expensive bourbon. I started tearing the place apart, checking behind paintings and under floorboards for anything that could make the council of Elders see that Jabari wasn’t innocent.
Finally, I found a small, high–tech safe hidden in his desk.
And fortunately, it was open. He must have forgotten to close the door, and I smiled because that saved me from wasting time.
Inside were several memory cards and a tablet.
I sat in his oversized leather chair and began reviewing the files. My insides churned with every video I clicked on. They were audition tales, but no acting was involved. It was videotaped of Jabari using his power to exploit young and helpless women, omegas to be precise. He had drugged some, threatened others, and recorded it to keep them silent.
He was a monster, and Damon had actually done the world a favor by ending him.
Then I saw a file labeled “Contest Drone 04,”
My heart began to hammer against my ribs for some unknown reason as I opened the file. It was footage from the day of the storm during the Luna Trials. The drone must have been high up it was windy, but the video was clear.
I saw myself hanging from the cliff, trying to catch my breath in the rain as I lifted Summer, and how she kicked me in the hands and pushed me down the cliff.
So he had the video?
What a monster.
“Ive got you now, bitch.” I said to myself.
I wasn’t going to show the clip to anybody; I didn’t want to show my hand yet. I wanted to see them crumble slowly, I carefully tucked the memory cards away into my bag and pulled out my phone.
It was time to rattle the cage.

Chapter 52 Drone 04
I dialed Antoine’s number. He answered after three rings, his voice sounding stressed.
“Eloiss? What do you want? There are messes to clean up because of what your King did,” he snapped.

“Hello to you, too, Antoine,” I said in a smooth and dangerously calm voice. “I just called to give you a little heads up, ask Summer about my fall at the cliff.”
There was a long silence on the other end.
“What are you talking about? You fell, it was an accident.”
“Was it?” I leaned back, enjoying the power in my voice. “Because I just saw something interesting about my fall and all that. Just saying.”
“You’re bluffing,” Antoine said. “You’re just trying to frame her because you hate her. Summer is a good person; she would never do what you’re insinuating she did.”
“Is she? Then why don’t you go ask her yourself?” I teased. “Ask her about the fall at the cliff. Have a nice night.”
I hung up, feeling a surge of satisfaction.
I wanted them to panic, I wanted Summer to spend the night looking over her shoulder as I left Jabari’s office. My phone buzzed. It was Lex; she was the only one from the contest that I was still keeping in contact with because she was a cool person.
“Eloise, are you still alive or has the King locked you assy in a golden cage?” she asked the moment I picked up the phone.
“Hey Lex, I’m sorry. It’s been a crazy few days.”
“Girl, a crazy few days. Your man ripped off a guy’s throat. We saw it on the news. Well, if it helps, I don’t like the guy, either.”
“Im just glad that he won’t have to terrorize anybody again,” I told her, and she sighed.
“What if we meet up for a few drinks and you tell me all about the whole incident. Are you down for that?”
I thought about the last few days; it’s been stressful because Damon refused to let me go anywhere. Now that I was out of the house, maybe going out would be fun.
“Okay, I’m down,” I told her. “I’ll be there,” I promised.
“Good! And wear something that will make the males not able to take their eyes off you,” she said.
“Okay, Lex,” I said with a smile.
“See you at nine,” she said and hung up.
