Chapter 97 Brothers To The Rescue

The massive iron doors of the warehouse didn’t just open; they were blown off the hinges. The sound was like a thunderclap, shaking the very foundation of the building.

“SUMMER!” I knew that voice; it was a roar of animalistic fury.

“Antoine,” I screamed. My brothers are here; they came to my rescue.

Two figures charged into the warehouse like a storm, my brothers. Antoine and Julian were talking towards us, their faces twisted into masks of murderous rage. Their eyes glowed with the golden light of their wolves.

The thugs barely had time to react, and Antoine reached the man on top of me in two strides. He grabbed the man by the collar and slammed him against the wall with such force that I heard the man’s rib snap.

“You touch her,” Antoine hissed, his voice was a low, dealt growl, “and you die.”

“Do you want to die?” Antoine asked while kicking the thug he had in his grasp in the tummy. “Huh?”

Julian didn’t even speak; he was a whirlwind of violence, his fists moving so fast they were a blur. The other two thugs tried to fight back, but they were like children playing against giants. Within minutes, the warehouse was filled with bones breaking and the whimpers of defeated men.

I’m so grateful I got the sense to send my location to my brothers earlier; otherwise, I didn’t want to think about what would have happened to me. I would have probably killed myself because of the failure of all the plans I put in place, plus the plans were almost used on me.

Thank you, Goddess. I muttered inside. Though they did hit me, and I was roughly handled. I would survive that. I just had to be at the infirmary for a few days or something.

The leader, his face now a mask of blood, slumped against the wall. Julian stood over him, his chest heaving, and his knuckles dripping red.

“Talk,” Julian commanded, his voice like ice. “Who told you to touch a member of the Lockwood family?”

The man looked up, his eyes glassy with pain; he spat out a tooth. “A woman….she said…shed pay….told us the girl would be here….ruin her….and then take her photos.”

“Was it Eloise?” Antoine asked, his voice shaking with a terrifying intensity.

I was on the floor, huddled in a corner. They were talking about me, but the only saving grace I had right now was that I didn’t show my face to them. Neither did Zeke. All our transactions were made over the phone, and I sighed with relief.

Antoine rushed to me, pulling off his heavy leather jacket and wrapping it around my trembling body. He pulled me into his chest, holding me so tight I could barely breathe. “Ive got you, Summer. I’ve got you, you’re safe now.”

I looked up at him, my eyes filled with tears. I saw the look on his face–the protective rage, the absolute relief that they didn’t carry out their plans.

“We… didnt see…the woman. We just know that it was a woman,” one of the thugs who was lying on the ground in Oak spoke up.

Suddenly, a dark, cold thought flickered in my mind. If I told the truth, they would hate me, they would see me for what I really was, and maybe the other things I’ve planned would come to light, and they would throw me out of their lives, and I couldn’t let that happen. Ever. But maybe if I lied… if I used this…

I buried my face in his jacket and began to wail. “It was her! It was Eloise!” I cried, my voice muffled into his chest. “She called me….she said she wanted to meet here to apologize for what went down at the auction…she said she wanted to be sisters again and I believed her! I came here alone because I thought she was being sincere, and because I really wanted us to be sisters again, I have missed her so much. And then these men….they were waiting for me! She set me up, Antoine! She wanted them to destroy me!” I said as my wails got louder.
