The smell of rust and blood filled the air, but all I could focus on was the heat radiating from Antoine’s body. He held me so tightly against his chest that I could hear his heart drumming a war beat. It was a beautiful sound; it was the sound of victory against Eloise.

I kept my eyes squeezed shut, letting a wave of fresh tears soak into his expensive leather jacket. I wasn’t acting, the tears weren’t an act because I was really in pain, my face throbbed from where the thugs had hit me, my lips were split, and my skin felt like it was on fire from where those men had handled me. I didn’t have to fake the pain; that was real. But the terror? The “broken princess” act? That was my masterpiece.

If I weren’t tough mentally, I would probably break down at the thought of someone almost raping me and taking videos of me to ruin my life. But I wasn’t a nice person, which meant I needed to be tough.

“Ive got you, Summer,” Antoine whispered. His voice shook; this was the man who could close multi–billion–dollar deals without a tremor, but he was terrified at the thought of something evil happening to me. He was trembling because of how bruised up! looked. I didn’t even know how I looked. I must look horrible, but I couldn’t really tell.

I let out a small, jagged sob and buried my face deeper into his chest. Yes, Antoine. Keep believing that I’m their victim, keep hating her. Behind us, I heard the mad beating that Julian kept giving the thugs.

I didn’t even know that Julian was this violent. I have never seen him get this violent at all, and it was pretty satisfying that this side of him came out because he was trying to protect me. I loved it.

So, I had these powerful men wrapped around my fingers? I almost smiled.

“Who sent you?” Julian asked again. He was probably trying to get more information, but I knew he couldn’t get any more because the thugs and I didn’t see each other.

Julian’s voice sent a shiver down my spine, not out of fear but out of excitement.

“If you don’t start talking, I’ll make sure you never walk again,” he said.

“Sir…we really don’t know who the woman is….” one of them sobbed.

“There was a man with her…the man was the one who hired us on behalf of the woman,” the leader said as if he suddenly remembered.

“Who is the man?” Antoine asked from where he was, and I panicked.

I hoped Zeke didn’t know these people. Fuckkkk.

“We didn’t see him. When he came to hire us, he was in a car. And that was the last time we saw him,” the leader said.

“Do you think it’s Damon?” Julian asked Antoine.

“Damon? The Lycan King? No, I don’t think he would go that low. He doesn’t fear anybody, so I think it he wanted to hurt Summer, he would do it and even leave signs that he did. I think Eloise is just trying to play dirty.” Antoine said.

That’s right. Damon would never do that. He was the most powerful man in our world, and maybe even its savior. Why would he decide to hurt someone in secret when there’s nothing anybody can do about it? I shouldn’t push on that agenda, but another one

“What if she’s seeing another man? And the man was the one who helped her?” I asked with a sob.

“Hmmm. That’s another angle.” Julian said.

“That means we have to get her and the man, and then show it to the Lycan King that his Queen is cheating on him with another man. And then maybe I can even come in there and try to take her place as the Queen.” I said.

“Thats a genius plan, but you have to get well, first,” Antoine said, and I nodded.

“Yes, you need to.” Julian agreed.

I had some serious setup to do. And I needed the help of Zeke because I was sure that I couldn’t get it done on my own, and since I had Zeke wrapped around my finger, I might as well get him to do things for me while it lasted.

This would be such a good plan. Being the Queen of the seven realms? I love it. I needed to plan this carefully and meticulously so nothing would lead back to me.
