Chapter 152 Close Call
Nira’s POV
Am I really going to die here today?
Despair washed over me, but I refused to give up.
I gritted my teeth and gripped my hidden dagger tight. I thought of my foster dad’s words–fight to the last, no matter how slim the chance.
Just then, loud fighting sounds erupted from the other side of the woods, followed by hitmen screamin
I looked up fast. A huge, fierce white wolf darted through the hitmen, every strike landing right on weak spots.
In seconds, all the hitmen dropped dead.
The white wolf shifted back into a man. A familiar voice called out, urgent and worried.
“Nira!”
My heart skipped a beat. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
The tall, powerful man standing there—was it really Kade?
“Kade!” My voice cracked, thick with emotion.
Kade rushed to my side. “Are you okay?”
My body still shook, but a flicker of calm settled in when I saw him.
“My arm’s hurt,” I panted hard.
I didn’t say I might’ve been poisoned too–I didn’t want him to worry more.
their
Kade glanced at my wound, his face softening with pain. He pulled a bandage from his bag and wrapped in quickly. “Hold on.”
I nodded, biting back the pain.
Off to the side, Kade’s men clashed with the remaining hitmen. Loud, fierce wolf howls filled the air.
Kade finished bandaging me fast. “I didn’t bring many men. These hitmen are high–ranked, way too strong. We won’t last long–we need to leave now.”
“Okay.” I nodded, sticking close to him.
Kade’s face turned serious, sensing the hitmen closing in. “Stay right behind me. We’ll break out left- there’s a trail that leads down the mountain.”

Gor it.” I said, dagger ready:
Jeit, cover us!” Kade spoke low into his earpiece, his tone sharp.
“On it!” Jett’s voice came through. Fierce fighting exploded on the other side of the woods
Jou’s team attacked hard from the right, throwing the hitmen’s formation into chaos.
Odin. now!” Kade shouted. He shifted into the huge white wolf, slung me onto his back, and bolted tel toward the weak spot in their line.
