Kade’s POV:

She was wearing a simple white trench coat. Her long hair danced in the night breeze. A faint smile rested on her lips. But her eyes were cold enough to make anyone look away.

She just stood there across the street, as if she’d stepped straight out of one of my dreams.

My breath caught in my throat as my heart slammed against my ribs.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was terrified that if I blinked, she’d disappear again. The woman I’d thought about every single day for three years was really standing in front of me.

“Nira…” Her name slipped from my lips. My voice trembled in a way I never expected.

I blinked twice to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. And she was still there. Without another thought, I charged into the traffic- filled street. Cars honked and brakes screeched, but I didn’t care. I ran straight toward her. Afraid that if I were even one second too slow, she’d vanish again.

“Nira!” I stopped in front of her, unable to hide the excitement and joy surging through me.

If I weren’t afraid of scaring her away, I would’ve handed control over to Odin right then and there and let him carry her across the city to celebrate.

My hand lifted carefully, almost fearfully, as I reached out to touch her cheek, making sure she was real and that this wasn’t another dream.

Nira didn’t pull away. She simply looked at me in silence. Something complicated lingered in her eyes, but I couldn’t tell what it

meant.

“It’s real…” My throat tightened. “It’s really you.”

I hadn’t realized my eyes were burning until then.

Nira chuckled softly. “Of course I’m real.” A teasing smile appeared on her face. “Don’t tell me three years apart turned the brilliant and mighty future Alpha King into an idiot.”

The last thread holding me together snapped. I pulled her into my arms hard. Holding her so tightly, it felt like I could press her into my bones.

“Nira…” My voice cracked. “You finally came back.”

My arms trembled, but I couldn’t stop them.

Nira’s POV:

If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I never would’ve believed the dignified Mr. Howell could lose control like this.

For the first time, I wondered if he cared about me more than I’d realized.

The people who had taken me from my biological parents were still hiding in the shadows, watching and waiting for the right moment to strike.

If I hadn’t returned to the Silvermoon Pack these past few years and stayed out of their reach, we probably would’ve crossed paths long ago.

Before I left, my adoptive dad had warned me that those people might make their move soon.

How could I drag Kade into something like that?

I rested against his chest and gently patted his back. “It’s okay, Kade.“vMy voice softened. “I’m back now.”

At that moment, I noticed a woman standing across the street. It was a high–ranking she–wolf. Her wolf eyes were exposed, and she was staring at me like she wanted to rip me apart.

Jealousy, resentment, and hatred practically dripped from her gaze.

I didn’t even bother looking twice. Instead, I patted Kade’s shoulder. “We should get in the car.”

Once we were inside, Kade spoke first. “Your apartment’s been empty for a long time.” He glanced at me through the rearview mirror. “I’ll have someone clean it tomorrow before you move back in. As for tonight-”

“You.” I cut him off. “I’ll stay at your place tonight.”

For a second, he looked stunned. Then a smile spread across his face, “Okay.” The word came out almost too quickly. As he drove, the smile never left his face. Every few minutes, he’d look into the rearview mirror, making sure I hadn’t disappeared.

Watching him like that made my chest ache.

When had Kade ever looked this vulnerable? He was the future Alpha King and the most powerful heir in the Pack Alliance.

Yet because of me, he looked almost fragile.

By the time we arrived at the Howell estate, Julie and Reese were already waiting outside.

The moment I stepped out of the car, Julie’s eyes turned red. “Ms. Søren!” She hurried over. “It’s really you! You finally came back!”

Reese was grinning from ear to ear. “Ms. Soren, you’ve been gone for three years. We were worried sick.”

I smiled warmly. “Julie. Reese, it’s been a long time.”

Standing nearby, Kade watched quietly. Warmth filled his eyes as he looked at me chatting with them.

Then hurried footsteps echoed from inside the estate, and a familiar voice followed.

“Nira!”

Edith practically rushed downstairs. The moment she saw me, her eyes lit up. “You finally came back!” She grabbed my hands immediately. “Let me look at you. Did you lose weight?”

I squeezed her hand gently. “I’m fine, Mrs. Edith Howell. Don’t worry.”
