“Mrs. Edith Howell, when my grandma was alive, the two of you were like sisters.” Olivia’s voice was sweet enough to give me a toothache. “Now that she’s gone, it’s only natural or me to visit you more often on her behalf.”
The moment I caught her scent upstairs, I already knew who she was. She was the woman from last night. The one glaring at me with jealousy and resentment while Kade held me in his arms.
And she was sitting there with a flattering smile plastered across her face.
Edith smiled politely. “That’s very thoughtful of you, Olivia.”
Olivia immediately leaned in. “Mrs. Edith Howell, I’ve always treated you like my own grandma.”
I listened from the staircase for a moment before walking downstairs. “Good morning, Mrs. Edith Howell.”
The second she heard my voice, Edith’s face lit up. “Nira, you’re awake!” She smiled warmly. “Go have some breakfast.”
I walked over and nodded. “Okay, Mrs. Edith Howell.”
The moment Olivia saw me, her expression darkened. Then she quickly put on a surprised look. “Ms. Soren.” She blinked. “You didn’t go home last night?”
After everything I’d done three years ago, it wasn’t surprising that a socialite like her knew my name.
I met her provocative–gaze calmly. Then I smiled, a smile that looked polite and harmless but was anything but. “Sorry.” I tilted my head slightly. “Who are you?”
The smile vanished from her face immediately. At the same time, Lyra sensed the hostility rolling off her. It was like a blade hidden
beneath silk.
Edith glanced at her. “This is Olivia Vance, the daughter of the Vance family from the Wildgust Pack.”
I nodded politely. “Ms. Vance, nice to meet you.” My tone was courteous but completely distant.
Olivia’s face darkened further. She forced out a stiff smile. “Ms. Soren, you must have forgotten. We met last night.”
I let out a soft laugh, then shrugged. “Really? My memory isn’t great, especially when it comes to unimportant people and things.”
Her face instantly turned ugly. For a split second, her wolf eyes flashed. And so did her killing intent.
I noticed all of it, but I just didn’t care. Even with my body not fully recovered, half of Lyra’s power would still be enough to deal
with her.
Just then, footsteps sounded from upstairs. Kade appeared. The moment he saw me, he frowned, then immediately walked over. “Why are you wearing so little?”
Without waiting for an answer, he took a coat from a servant and draped it over my shoulders.
It was a simple gesture, yet there was something natural, gentle, and almost intimate about it.

Hooked up at him. A srnile tugged at my lips. “I’m not cold.”
His expression didn’t change. “Your body’s still recovering. You can’t be careless.”
Standing nearby, Olivia watched the interaction. Her face became even uglier.

After a moment, she forced out another smile. “Kade” She spoke softly. “Today’s launch event is important. Shouldn’t we leave early?”
Kade finally looked at her, his eyes calm and cold. “Ms. Vance.” His tone remained polite. “You really didn’t need to come all the way here. I do know the way to the venue.”
Her smile froze again. The hand hanging at her side clenched tightly. “I’m actually here to visit Mrs. Edith Howell.”
“Mm.” Kade nodded. “Since you’re Grandma’s guest, enjoy your visit.”
Then he turned toward me. And his voice instantly softened. “Julie made your favorite fruit jam. Let’s go eat breakfast.”
I glanced at him. “Don’t you need to get to the launch event?”

He shrugged. “It’s just a small launch event. No need to rush.”
Then he led me toward the dining room. As we passed Olivia, I gave her a casual glance filled with dismissal and contempt.
The look on her face afterward was absolutely priceless.
After breakfast, Kade personally drove me to school.
The moment Tessa heard I was back, she practically sprinted to the entrance.
The second she saw me, her wolf ears popped up, then she launched herself at me.
“Nira!” She practically screamed. “You finally came back! I missed you so much!”
Before I could react, she wrapped me in a crushing hug. I nearly stopped breathing. Laughing helplessly, I patted her back. “! missed you too.”
“Tessa!” Kade hurried over immediately. Panic was written all over his face. “Be careful, Nira’s poison is cured, but her body still hasn’t fully recovered.”
I could only sigh. He was treating me like a broken porcelain doll.
Tessa instantly released me. Then grabbed my shoulders and looked me up and down. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?” Concern filled her eyes.
