On the other end of the line, Olivia’s breath caught. “Carried her?”

“Yes, she looked very weak,” the man said, adjusting his werewolf vision to sharpen his focus on the building. “And Kade hasn’t left since.”

Inside her luxury apartment, Olivia gripped her phone so hard her knuckles turned white. Her sharp claws snapped out, tearing deep gouges into the leather sofa.

She strode over to the floor–to–ceiling window, narrowing her eyes as she stared outside. Her voice was terrifyingly calm. “Keep watching them. Report back the second anything changes.”

The moment she hung up, she hurled her crystal glass against the wall.

Red wine splattered across the white paint like fresh blood, sending shards of glass raining down onto the floor.

“Nira…” she hissed, her elegant features twisting with pure envy. “Just you wait.”

Without wasting a second, she dialed another number. “Nira is back,” she ordered, her voice cold and ruthless. “Execute the plan.”

Nira’s POV

Now that the apartment was fully settled, I decided against staying back at the Howell estate.

Once Edith found out I was moving back, she immediately sent Julie over to look after me.

“Edith was very clear,” Julie said, casting a meaningful glance at Kade. “Nira only lost her strength because she saved Kade. The Howells are going to take responsibility for her, all the way to the end.”

With her putting it that way, I couldn’t really argue. I simply showed her to the spare guest room.

Turning to me, Kade said, “A payout should hit your account this afternoon. It’s your cut from the medicine auction three years

ago.”

My eyes widened in surprise. “I almost forgot about that! Hold on a second.”

I rushed back to my room and returned with a small box, pressing it into Kade’s hands. “These are the next batch of medicines ready for auction. I’ve already categorized them, so it’ll all make sense once you open it.”

Kade took the box, a smile playing on his lips. “Perfect. Here’s to a continued successful partnership.”

“To partnership,” I replied, smiling back.

Between recovering and clearing the poison, I had spent the last three years cooped up in the Silvermoon Pack. It had been forever since I last went out to shop for new clothes. Now that the funds had cleared, I wasted no time dragging Tessa out for a shopping spree.

Tessa looped her arm through mine, practically bouncing with excitement as she navigated the luxury boutiques. “Oh my god, you’re finally willing to leave the house! You have no idea how bored I’ve been these past three years without you. I was practically growing mold.”

Hlaughed and nodded, letting my fingers brush against a light blue dress. “Yeah, I really am overdue for something new. “This would look amazing on you,” Tessa said, pulling the dress off the rack and holding it up against me. “Go try it on!”

“You know, Olivia, I think this dress would look way better on you than on Nira.”

A woman’s voice cut in abruptly, and the dress was snatched right out of Tessa’s harvls.

The speaker was a high–ranking werewolf, radiating arrogance as she looked down her nose at me with pure disdain. Standing right beside her was Olivia.

Holding the dress aloft, the woman sneered as she took in my outfit. “A Lisa original isn’t meant to be worn by a wolf–less reject.”

Olivia offered a picture–perfect, elegant smile. She did nothing to stop her friend, nor did she speak up for me. Instead, she just stroked the fabric of the dress with practiced casualness. “Don’t be like that, Vivienne. Nira probably just doesn’t know that Lisa only takes haute couture clients now.”

Tessa’s eyes narrowed into fierce wolfish slits as a low growl escaped her throat. She lunged forward, reaching out to snatch the dress back. “Give it back! We saw it first!”

Vivienne easily stepped out of reach, shielding the dress behind her back. “Finder’s keepers.”
