I had never seen this side of Nira before. With the outer corners of her eyes flushed a faint red, she radiated an overwhelming. commanding presence. She was like a cat finally showing its claws–utterly intoxicating, leaving me completely captivated.
Wait. Did she just say… like?
Does she like me?
As the realization sank in, my breath caught in my throat, and my heart felt like it had been struck by a sledgehammer.
In my excitement, i wanted nothing more than to immediately yield my body to din and seal the bond with Nira right then and
there.
My grip on her waist tightened instinctively.
“What did you just say?” I paused, cautiously seeking confirmation. “Did you just say you like me?”

Nira’s POV
I could feel his arms trembling slightly, those hands that usually held absolute control now tightening and loosening around my waist in sheer helplessness. Kade, the always calm and collected heir to the Alpha King, was completely at a loss right now, looking for all the world like a child who had just been handed a piece of candy.
I cleared my throat, forcing a firm tone. “If I’m not satisfied with your answer, I won’t-”
Before I could even finish, his hand was over my mouth.
A flash of panic crossed his eyes, his voice carrying an undeniable, commanding edge. “Don’t you dare say you won’t like me!” Feeling the sheer heat and intensity of his feelings, my heart raced so fast it felt like it would burst from my chest.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, casting scattered fleeks of light across his tense jawline. I had never seen Kade like this. The first–in–line heir to the Alpha King, a man who always had everything figured out, was actually terrified of losing me.
“Listen to me,” Kade said, taking a deep breath as his thumb gently brushed against the back of my hand. “My father had just passed away back then, and I had officially entered the trial period to become the next Alpha King. Those old foxes in the Elders council were breathing down my neck every single day, trying to force an arranged marriage on me.”
He let out a self–deprecating laugh. “Out of all the candidates, Olivia was the only one who didn’t claim to love me.”
Surprised, I arched an eyebrow. “So you chose her?”
“Because she was level–headed and smart enough,” Kade said, locking his eyes onto mine. “I needed a partner who could help me stabilize the situation, not some airhead obsessed with the title of Luna.”
He reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind my ear. “But I realized later that she wasn’t without ambition; she was just better at hiding it.”

At that, rade’s expression turned incredibly serious, and he spoke with absolute certainty. “I never proposed to her, and I definitely never chose her as my male only suggested a partnership. And the moment I Saw her true colors, I shut it down.”

Kade’s POV
In this life, there is only one person I want to bond with and spend forever with.
Nira. Only her.
When I finished speaking, Nira fell silent, her long eyelashes casting faint shadows over her face. Then, she gently pushed my hands away and got up from the bed.
My chest tightened, and I immediately grabbed her wrist. “Nira?”
A wave of panic, unlike anything I’d ever felt, washed over me. “I swear, there was never arrything between us…”
“I understand,” Nira said quietly, but she still pulled her hand from my grip.
She walked over to the window, her back to me as she adjusted her collar. The sunlight silhouetted her slender frame, making it impossible for me to read her expression.
I stood up, swallowing hard against the lump in my throat, and ventured cautiously, “So… what do you…”
Are you satisfied with that answer?
“I don’t know yet. I need to think about it.” Nira turned around abruptly, a faint, unreadable smile playing on her lips.
My heart skipped a beat, the tension leaving me practically breathless. I took a step toward her. “Nira, could you please…”
“Get out.” She pointed toward the door, a sudden flash of mischief in her eyes. “I need some time alone to think.”
“But-”
“Three, two…” She started counting down.
eing I stood there like an idiot, staring at her. I couldn’t believe that I, a man who always prided himself on being in absolute control, was completely helpless right now.
“One.”
She actually finished the countdown.
Defeated, I finally turned and walked toward the door.
I glanced back one last time and saw her leaning against the window frame with her arms crossed. The sunlight bathed her in a golden glow, making her look breathtakingly beautiful.
Was she actually angry with me?
No, I couldn’t just leave it at this. I had to go back in and explain further…
Standing outside the hospital room door, I restlessly ran my fingers over the handle, my mind a chaotic mess. After a fierce internal
