Chapter 255 Dr Beyond
Nira’s POV
“Nira?”
Tessa’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
She pushed the door open, holding a glass of milk. “Why are you standing right in the draft?”
Hiding the heavy emotions swirling inside me, I took the glass and offered a small smile. “Thanks.”
Tessa was quick to sense my mood. “Kade told you about Dr. Beyond, didn’t he?”
“Yeah.” I nodded gently, my fingers tracing the rim of the glass. “He filled me in on everything.”

Tessa wrinkled her nose in annoyance. “This Dr. Beyond character sounds like a total fraud riding on a hollow reputation. Don’t worry about him, we’ve all got your back.”
A wave of warmth washed over me. Unable to help myself, I reached out and playfully pinched her cheek “All right. Thank you.”
Tessa leaned her head against my shoulder. “You know, when I was little, I used to be so jealous of anyone who had an older sister.” Her voice softened. “Can I just count you as my big sister from now on? Don’t worry, I’ve never looked down on you just because you don’t have a wolf soul. Honestly, your talent alone is enough to make me look up to you and admire you. I truly want you to be my sister.”
Hearing her words completely melted the chill in my heart. I smiled, “I’d love that.”
Even though Kade had left the Duvall house, he kept a steady stream of deliveries coming my way.
“Is this from Kade again?” Tessa asked, looking up as a maid walked in carrying a food hamper.
“Yes, miss,” the maid replied. “The courier said it’s for Nira and you–enough for both.”
Tessa shot me a teasing look before taking the hamper from the maid.
I leaned in to get a closer look. The lid was inlaid with precious gems, and even before it was opened, a crisp pine scent mingled with an indescribable, delicate sweetness drifted into the air. It was clearly incredibly valuable.
“Let’s see what kind of rare treasure it is this time.” Tessa carefully popped the gilded latch, Inside the three–tiered hamper, lined with fresh banana leaves, sat translucent caviar on the top layer, paper–thin slices of cured ham in the middle, and gold–leaf ice cream at the very bottom.
Tessa scooped up a small dollop of the caviar, her voice octave–jumping in disbelief. “This is top–grade caviar–you can’t even buy this stuff anymore! A mere 0.01 ounces went for an absolute fortune at an auction last year!”
She gasped and suddenly leaned in close, her eyes bright with excitement. “Nira, with a gesture like this, do you think Kade is digging up his family’s ancestral heirlooms?”
My hand trembled slightly around my glass of milk, but I forced myself to stay composed. “Don’t be ridiculous. The Howell family has ruled the entire Pack Alliance for centuries. Their wealth runs deep.”
“I’m not exaggerating,” Tessa said, tapping her silver spoon against the rim of the dish with a sharp, clear ring. “There are fewer

than three ounces of this grade of caviar on the entire continent. Edith Howell wouldn’t even serve it at her seventieth birthday gala.”
She gave a mischievous wink. “When the Alpha of the Frostpine Pack was on his deathbed last time and begged for a taste, Kade only spared him a portion the size of a fingernail.”
“It really looks like Kade cares about you…”
As she went on with her earnest analysis, I quickly changed the subject to deflect her attention.
I was in the courtyard teaching Tessa how to identify medicinal herbs when the voice from the living room television made my hand freeze in midair.
I looked up at the screen to see the rumored Dr. Beyond. Dressed in a deep indigo gown, she stood in the center of the studio stage with a glittering array of medical instruments spread out before her.
“I’ve heard Nira’s medical expertise is quite profound,” Dr. Beyond said, smiling into the camera. The scar over her right eyebrow caught the glare of the studio lights. “I would like to boldly invite Nira onto next week’s show so we can test our skills against one another.”
Tessa saw it too. She slammed her herbs onto the stone table, her wolf eyes flashing with fury as she glared at the television. “How dare she!” she spat. “Everyone knows your medical skills are unmatched across the entire Pack Alliance!”
I didn’t say a word, my eyes narrowing as I stared closely at Dr. Beyond on the screen.
The way she handled her medical tools felt chillingly familiar. The slight curl of her three fingers, the upward flick of her pinky–it was the exact signature technique of my medical mentor, a secret I had never shared with anyone.
A jolt of shock went through me.
Even her starting posture matched my mentor’s secret teachings down to the millimeter. Who exactly was she?
“… If Nira is too afraid to accept the challenge,” Dr. Beyond continued, suddenly driving a set of needles onto the glass tabletop, causing the tips of the nine needles to vibrate into a perfect plum blossom pattern, “then consider the matter dropped.”
The preview clip cut to black over the gasps of the studio audience.
Tessa immediately pulled out her phone and shoved it toward me. The hashtag [Dr. Beyond Challenges Nira] had already shot up to the number three trending spot.
The comment section was in complete chaos:
[Who even is this person? How dare she challenge Nira?]
[The person above must live under a rock. Dr. Beyond literally made a paralyzed werewolf stand up on the spot last month!]
[Nira doesn’t even have a wolf soul. How can she compare to Dr. Beyond? She only got famous because the Howell family backed her. Who knows how good she actually is!]
Right then, a plain, unassuming comment popped up in the feed: [I’m just an ordinary werewolf from the Frostpine Pack. Last year, I collapsed on the side of the road from a sudden illness, and Nira saved my life. She didn’t even take a fee before she rushed off.
