Nira’s POV

Once Vera was on the task, I hopped onto my social media and posted an updare:

Thank you for the invitation, Dr. Beyond. However, medicine is about compassion. Rather than putting on a performance for a stage audience, I prefer to do real work. In three days, I will be heading to the oncology ward at the children’s hospital to run a free clinic for critically ill children. I cordially invite Dr. Beyond to join me so we can judge our skills by actual results. True heaters speak through their patients‘ recovery.

I attached a photo of the children’s oncology ward, highlighting the innocent, smiling faces of the kids in freir hospital beds.

Tessa’s eyes went wide as she read it. “Nira, you’re…”

“She wants the spotlight and the applause, but I want to heal people,” I said with a slight smile. “If we’re going to compete, we’ll do it on real merits.”

“Don’t worry,” I added. “I’m going to give her a massive surprise.”

Nira’s post was an absolute bombshell, instantly setting the internet ablaze.

The comment section erupted:

Before long, the Children’s Hospital officially shared the post with their own statement:

[We would be honored to host a free clinic with these two world–class medical experts. Our hospital will be live–streaming the entire event, allowing the public to witness true medical excellence and compassion firsthand.]

Dr. Beyond stared at Nira’s post on her phone, her grip tightening until her fingertips turned white. The reality TV trap she had so meticulously laid had been effortlessly turned into a charity event.

“Damn it!”

With a fierce curse, her wolf claws extended, crushing the phone into pieces. Her crimson eyes flared with murderous intent. Outside the window, the night was thick, casting shifting neon shadows across her dark expression.

After pacing the room for a while, she stopped, pulled another phone from her pocket, and dialed the only number saved in it.

“The plan changed,” she hissed, her nails nervously scraping the edge of the device. “Nira didn’t take the bait. She’s moving the showdown to the Children’s Hospital.”

From the other end of the line came a mechanized voice, characteristic of a mutated werewolf. “Expected. If she were that easy to trick, she wouldn’t have been chosen as the next Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack.”

“Don’t panic,” the voice cut her off. “I’ll handle the Children’s Hospital. Just follow my head when the time comes. Someone will deliver a blue medical kit to your place tomorrow morning.”

Dr. Beyond hesitated, a flicker of doubt crossing her eyes. “Are you sure she’ll fall for it?”

“Are you questioning me?” the mechanized voice sneered. “Don’t forget who gave you a new face and turned you from a nobody into a miracle worker.”

The line went dead.

Dr. Beyond stood by the floor–to–ceiling window, looking down at the brilliant city lights below as her distorted reflection stared back from her wine glass. She threw her head back and drained the red wine, a stray drop of crimson trailing down the corner of her mouth.

“Oh, Nira,” Dr. Beyond muttered, her eyes gleaming with madness. “This time, I’m going to ruin you completely.”

Kade’s POV

I was just about to head out and see Nira after reading Dr. Beyond’s response when Jett walked in to tell me that the shadow boss of Ironvale Group had finally agreed to meet.

For the past three years, I had been partnering with the Ironvale Pack’s Ironvale Group on a medical equipment project. Everything had been going smoothly, and their sixth–generation tech was ever being used in a military initiative. I had expressed my desire to meet their boss to Ruifeng multiple times, but he had always declined, citing health reasons.

Why the sudden change of heart today?

As I hesitated, Jett added, “The team at Ironvale Group mentioned that their boss only has an hour to spare.”

If this were the head of a corporation from any other pack, they wouldn’t dream of putting on such airs with me. But the Ironvale Pack was an exception. Their ruling family had once thrown a lifeline to my Howell ancestors, and family tradition demanded we treat them with the utmost respect. Now that the boss of their subsidiary, Ironvale Group, was finally offering a meeting, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
