Dr. Beyond glared at me, her lupine eyes flashing with vicious malice as she leaned in close to his in my ear, “Do you want to know. what I hate most about you? It’s that you always look so damn sure of yourself. I am going to drag you into the dirt and watch you beg for scraps just to survive.”

“Be my guest,” I replied dismissively.

Fifteen minutes later, the lab results came back.

“The test results are negative for any toxic substances,” the attending physician announced to the crowd. “The child is just suffering from a standard stomach bug.”

“That’s impossible!” Dr. Beyond shrieked. “I clearly-” She cut herself off mid–sentence, her face instantly draining of color.

Suddenly, Sarah dropped to her knees in front of Dr. Beyond. Trembling, she pulled a thick envelope from her jacket and held it out with both hands. “Dr. Beyond, I’m giving you back the hundred thousand dollars… I secretly showed that medicine you gave me to our village medicine man, and he told me it would ruin my child’s kidneys…”

Tears streamed down her face, her voice choking up. “Leo is my entire life. I don’t want the money anymore. Please, just leave us alone!”

Dr. Beyond turned deathly pale, stumbling back a few steps. “You… what rubbish are you talking about?!”

She turned toward the cameras, crying out to the audience, “Please, judge for yourselves! How could I ever risk my own son’s

life?!”

Turning my gaze toward the children’s hospital, I added, “Now, it’s time to go see Lily.”

Kade gazed at me, his eyes filled with admiration and warmth.

“I remember when we first met,” he said. “Even though you didn’t have a wolf soul back then, you were exactly like this- completely calm and collected, no matter what came your way. You always have this incredible intelligence and talent that never ceases to amaze me.”

I offered him a faint smile at the compliment.

Just then, Kade’s phone rang. After a brief conversation, he hung up and turned to me, his expression grim. “Dr. Beyond escaped on her way to the police station.”

My hands clenched into tight fists. “She knew she wouldn’t face real charges even if she went to the station, yet she still risked a break for it,” I said, gritting my teeth. “And she always wears that mask whenever she shows up. Is she that terrified of revealing her face?”
