Chapter 270 Don’t Go Killing Anyone
Chapter 270 Don’t Go Killing Anyone
Nira’s POV
“He–he’s crazy!” Lena screamed in pure terror, turning back to look at us.
Kade’s front bumper slammed hard against Elias’s rear as the two cars engaged in a heart–stopping chase down the winding mountain road. At every sharp turn, Kade controlled the impact with pinpoint precision, ruthlessly forcing Elias to the very edge of the cliffside.
“You lunatic! Stop! You’re going to get us killed!” Terror–stricken, Elias could barely keep his hands steady on the steering wheel.
By the time they finally screeched to a halt at the foot of the mountain, Elias was thoroughly broken. He scrambled out of his car and spotted a row of sports cars parked ahead with their high beams on. Racing award them like they were his personal saviors, he screamed at the top of his lungs, “Help! Someone is trying to kill me! That damn couple wants me dead?”
The doors of a dozen sports cars swung open simultaneously, and a crowd of street racers swarmed out.
The young man leading the pack frowned. “Who has the nerve to try to kill the heir to the Grimclaw Pack?”
“Them!” Elias’s eyes flashed with his wolf’s fury as he pointed frantically at Kade and me. “Deal with them for me!”
With a dozen racers following his lead, the guy aggressively closed in on us, their blinding headlights pinning Kade and me in place.
“What’s the matter? You hit someone and thought you could just cruise away?” The leader kicked Kade’s front hood with arrogant defiance.
Hiding safely behind the crowd, Elias jeered, “That’s them! They intentionally rammed my car up on the mountain. I almost died because of them!”
Kade unbuckled his seatbelt with unhurried composure, and we both stepped out of the car. The glaring headlights made it impossible for me to see who we were facing, leaving me to only hear the rising chorus of mocks and insults.
“Look at this guy, racing in a suit. Who are you trying to impress?”
“And he brought a chick who doesn’t even smell like she has an inner wolf. Just another low–life werewolf.”
“You aren’t leaving until you give us a proper apology today!”
Faced with the rowdy, aggressive crowd, Kade spoke up, his deep voice slicing through the noise. “Cassian.”
The chaotic shouting cut off instantly.
The leader blinked, his guard going up. “Who are you? How do you know my name?”
Kade reached over and switched off our headlights. As the blinding glare faded and Cassian finally saw our faces clearly, his eyes went wide with sheer terror.
“Alpha Kade?” Cassian’s voice shook so violently that he nearly dropped to his knees. “Nira?”
As Briar’s nephew, Cassian naturally recognized both of us.
A dead, suffocating silence fell over the clearing. The racers who had just been trash–talking collectively took three giant steps

wige against a kid.”
I bit back a laugh and offered him a quick wink in return.
Once she calmed down, Tessa seemed to realize she’d completely lost her filter with Kade. A tense, nervous look crossed her face. and she began darting anxious glances his way
Kade didn’t call her out on it. Knowing his presence was keeping us from talking freely, he took his cue to leave. “I have a meeting shortly. I’ll leave you two to chat.”
Before heading out, he stood up, walked over to me, and leaned down to press a soft, lingering kiss to my forehead.
Tessa’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. Her glass slipped from her hand and hit the table with a loud clatter, splashing water everywhere. Jaw slack, she stared at us in absolute shock, pointing a trembling finger back and forth between us. “You–you two… since when… Nira, you…”
Kade straightened up and threw a cool glance in her direction. “Problem?”
Tessa shut her mouth instantly and shook her head at lightning speed. “No! Not at all! Please carry on, Alpha!”
I glanced at the utterly bewildered Tessa, then shot Kade a pointed look. A faint smile played at the corner of his lips as he turned and headed upstairs, looking thoroughly amused.
The second Kade disappeared up the staircase, Tessa lunged across the couch, grabbing my shoulders and shaking me excitedly. “Nira! Since when did things progress this far between you two? Last time I saw you together, you were still so polite! Have you officially mated?!”
“Stop shaking me,” I laughed, gently pinning her hands down. “You’re going to make me dizzy.”
Tessa dropped her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, her eyes shining. “So… is Kade always this gentle with you in private?! honestly thought he’d handle dating like a business meeting!”
I couldn’t help but laugh, though my mind instantly flashed back to last night, when Kade had pinned me against the study door for a deep, breathless kiss. There had been absolutely nothing businesslike about it.
Tessa suddenly let out a soft sigh. “I’m just so glad you two are finally together. It’s a huge relief.”
Seeing her act so worldly–wise despite her age, I reached out and playfully pinched her cheek. “Listen to you, acting all mature.
