Chapter 326 Pushup Dooper
Chapter 326 Pushing Deeper
Nira’s POV:
I pulled back the tent flap and found several members of the team doubled over clutching their stomachs in pain.
“What’s happening here?” I rushed closer to check on them.

“What’s it to you?” Clark Moore shoved me back roughly–but then his face twisted and he dropped to his knees, hands pressed hard against his belly.
Seeing their condition, and after having Lyra sniff around them, I already had a strong suspicion what was wrong.
Still, I took each of their wrists to check their pulses and made a quick assessment, “You drank untreated well water, didn’t you? That’s a salmonella infection.”
I turned and hurried back to my tent, grabbed a handful of pale green capsules, and came back. “Take these. Now.”
“Who’s gonna take your-” One of the guys didn’t finish before he leaned over and retched.
Clark was sweating heavily from the pain, but finally he reached out a trembling hand, took one of the pills, and swallowed it dry.
In less than ten minutes, his symptoms had visibly eased. He stared at me in disbelief. “What… what did you just give me?”
“Anti–Pathogen Pill,” I replied evenly.
Then I pulled out several small packets of powdered herbs. “Sprinkle this around the perimeter of the camp. It repels scorpions and desert snakes.”
The team members glanced at one another. The one who’d been sick wiped his mouth and mumbled, “Th–thanks, Ms. Soren…”
But the others who weren’t affected just stood off to the side, smirking. “Lucky guess with the meds.”
“Yeah,” added a tall team member, crossing his arms as he looked down at me. “We’ve run plenty of missions out here before, Never needed any fancy supplements.”
Clark braced himself against the tent frame. His color had returned, but his tone was still arrogant. “Okay, so you know some
r basics. But when we move out tomorrow, you still follow our lead.”
Desmond frowned and stepped forward. “Ms. Soren’s medical knowledge–”
“Mr. Hudson,” Clark cut him off, “medical knowledge is one thing. Desert survival is another.”
He gestured toward the pitch–black stretch of desert beyond the camp. “Out there, even satellite signals drop out. At peak heat, the ground temperature can roast an Omega werewolf alive. You sheltered types have no clue how deadly it really is.
“And this Ms. Soren doesn’t even carry a wolf spirit. You might as well turn back now.”
I kept my voice level. “What good is a wolf spirit here? When it came down to it, you still needed my medicine to pull through.”
“You-” He had no comeback, so he shut his mouth.

An older soldier with a scar across his cheek walked up, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Ms. Soren, do you even know what to do if

you get lost in the desert? Can you tell quicksand from solid ground?”
I met his gaze calmly. “I know how to take shelfer in a sandstorm, how to extract water from a barrel cactus, and) also know
I pointed to the soldier’s wrist. “That scorpion sting on your arm is already infected. If you don’t treat it soon, it’ll pus over within two hours.”
The old soldier jerked his hand back, his expression shifting. “Bull.”
Without another word, I took a small vial from my med kit and tapped out a light green powder. “Apply this. The pain will fade in ten minutes, swelling will go down in half an hour.”
He hesitated, then took it.
Other team members gathered around to watch.
“Gimmicks…” someone muttered under his breath.
But within ten minutes, the scarred soldier raised his wrist, surprised. “The pain’s gone. And the swelling’s actually gone down.”
Zachary scowled. “Just a fluke.”
He turned and barked at the group, “Everyone, get some shut–eye! We’re up at 0400, ready to move!”
After everyone scattered, Kade said quietly to me, “Looks like we’ll have to prove ourselves more convincingly to earn their respect.”
I looked toward the desert and kept my voice low. “Once we enter the Dark Desert, they’ll understand on their own.”
Desmond clenched his fists. “These arrogant jerks… if it weren’t for my aunt…”
“Let it go,” I told him gently. “They’re trained soldiers–they have their pride. When real danger hits, they’ll be glad for those ‘fancy pills‘ after all.”
At four in the morning, the desert cold still hung in the air, but the team was already packed and ready. Zachary assigned me, Kade, and Desmond the three weakest camels, and our water and rations were cuato half of what the others received.
“Make it last,” Zachary said with a mocking tone. “Just stay with the group–you won’t need as much anyway.”
r
Kade checked the gear on his camel and, without a word, slipped a tiny tracker into the lining of Zachary’s pack.
Soon the sun beat down on the desert, and the temperature soared past 120 degrees.
