Chapter 332 Compulsion and Division
Nira’s POV:
The man’s gaze wavered for a moment before he steadied himself again. “Believe what you want. I don’t know a thing.”
“Still playing tough, are you?” I let out a cold laugh and gestured behind me. “Boys, help him understand the situation.”
Several members of the team closed in, and blows rained down on him.
These were professionally trained soldiers–skilled fighters even without tapping into their wolf spirit. Every strike was precise, meant to disable.
At first, the guy tried to tough it out, but it didn’t take long before he was screaming. Soon he curled into a ball on the ground, gasping. “Stop… stop! I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”
I motioned for them to back off, then grabbed a fistful of his hair. “Start talking.”
He coughed, spitting blood, and struggled to form words. “It… it was the boss who sent me… He ordered me to lead you into the canyon up ahead… There’s an ambush waiting there…”
“Who’s your boss?” Kade, standing beside me, demanded in a frosty tone.
“Dendo…” the man panted. “He… he’s working with Richard…”
“Richard?” My spine went rigid. “He’s here?”
The man nodded weakly. “Our boss captured two people. Richard/came for them…”
Desmond’s expression shifted. He seized the man by the collar./Explain clearly. Did your boss take a man and a woman? A woman named Natalie, and a man called Killian?”
Choking, his face turning purple, the man nodded frantically.
Zachary slammed his fist into a nearby boulder. “Damn it! So it really is that son of a bitch Richard!”
I pulled myself together and lowered my voice. “Where are they now? How many are stationed in the canyon?”
J
“The canyon… has over twenty guys…” he rasped. “But Richard… isn’t with them… He’s holed up at the old fort north of the oasis… That’s where they’re keeping the prisoners…”
Kade narrowed his eyes. “How do we know you’re not lying?”
“I… I swear!” The man shook his head desperately. “It’s all true!”
Kade and I exchanged a look. There was no way we were taking his word for it.
I pointed toward a cluster of rocks up ahead and told the team to bring him over. I’d handle the interrogation myself.
Kade gave me a slight, knowing nod.
Desmond caught my arm, his curiosity piqued. “Nira, what’re you planning?”

+shot him a sharp grin. “Don’t worry. I’ve got a way to make sure he tells the truth.”
With that, I headed toward the rocks, Kade falling in step beside me.
