Zachary flashed a sharp, ruthless grin “Don’t sweat it. Not a single one of them is walking away“.
“Desmond, Clark–you’re with me,” Kade added, his gaze fixed northward. “We’re heading straight for the old fort to pol and Killian out”
Desmond clenched his fists, his eyes burning with a murderous glare “Richard… This time, I’m ending hi

He drew a slow breath and gave a tight nod.
We split into two groups without wasting another second. Zachary took a squad of elites and moved quietly after scout, closing in on the canyon without a sound.
Meanwhile, Kade, Desmond, Clark, and I cut off the main trail, pushing hard along the backside of the dunes, making straight for the abandoned fort.
Third–Person POV:
The controlled scout stumbled into the mouth of the canyon, and the bandits hidden along the walls immediately swarmed around him.
“Well?” growled a burly man with a scar running down his face. “Did you lead ‘em here?”
The scout nodded slowly, his movements stiff. “They took the bait. Right behind me.”
Scarface smirked. “Good! Everybody, lock and load. The second they step inside, light ‘em up!”

The bandits checked their weapons and slipped back into hiding–completely missing the vacant look in the scout’s eyes and his rigid posture.

Nira’s POV:
After moving carefully for a while, the four of us finally got within sight of the fort.
I scanned the area cautiously. The old structure was crumbling from years of wind and sand, but even so, armed guards were posted around it.
With our wolf spirits unusable there, those guards would be carrying top–tier weaponry. We were outnumbered and outgunned stealth was our only real advantage.

I pulled a small ceramic–val from my helt and gave it a light shake. “Knockout gas, INI put them down long enough for us to move.”
Desmond frowned. “But how do we get close enough to use it?”
I turned to Clark. “Can you work that crossbow of yours?”
“You know it,” he replied with a quick grin.
I fastened the vial carefully to the tip of a bolt and whispered, “Aim upwind of the fort. The breeze will carry the smoke inside”
Clark nodded, eased back a few steps using the dune as cover, and let the bolt fly.
“Whoosh-”
It struck the stone wall of the fort perfectly. The vial shattered, and a thin wisp of purple smoke began to drift outward.
Within five minutes, we heard the guards inside collapsing one after another.
“The effects only last about half an hour,” I warned. “Now’s our chance–move!”
