Natalie’s reflexes kicked in just in time–she threw herself backward, hitting the ground hard, but managing to roll clear of the swipe. Scrambling to her feet, she immediately tried to shift, to call on her wolf… but nothing answered. Her wolf spirit felt distant, locked away.
Then it clicked–that eerie, distorted howl Dina had let out earlier wasn’t just for show. It was meant to sever her connection to her
wolf.
She really does know her dark magic. Natalie thought, dread coiling tight in her chest.
A vicious gleam flashed in Dina’s eyes. She raised her claws, poised to strike again but the moment she stepped forward, her ankle jerked to a stop. Killian, still crumpled on the floor, had wrapped both hands around her leg, holding on with everything he
had.
“Let go!” Dina snarled, consumed by the urge to finish Natalie. She slammed her heel down onto Killian’s fingers.
A sharp gasp of pain escaped him, sweat beading on his forehead, but his grip only tightened.
“Killian!” Natalie pushed up on one elbow, ignoring the throbbing in her ankle. Then she saw his eyes–clear for the first time since this nightmare began. He strained, voice ragged but urgent, “Natalie… run…!”
Dina’s face twisted with cruelty. The faint chime of the bell at her wrist suddenly sharpened, piercing the air.
Killian cried out, his free hand flying to his temple, but he still clung to Dina’s leg. “Don’t… touch her…”
“Pathetic!” Dina roared. With a brutal wrench of her body, she toye herself free and delivered a heavy blow to the side of his head.
Killian went limp, collapsing completely.
Two broad–shouldered men in dark suits moved in, hauling his unconscious form off the floor toward the exit.
“Put him down!” Natalie’s voice was frantic. Still cut off from her wolf, with her ankle screaming in protest, she couldn’t even stand.
Dina turned back to her, gaze venomous. “Today ends this, Natalie.”
She advanced, claws extended. Natalie scrambled backward until her shoulders hit the wall–nowhere left to go.
Nira’s POV:
From behind the tinted glass of the SUV, I watched, every muscle tense. Lyra stirred beneath my skin, urging me to shift, to charge in and rip Dina apart.
Not yet, I forced myself to think, glaring at the scene. Not here.
“We need to go–now!” one of the suited men barked from the driver’s seat of the idling sedan.
Dina shot a final, furious look at Natalie before spinning around and diving into the back of the car.

The engine revved, tires screeching as the vehicle sped off, kicking up a cloud of dust and gravel with Killian inside.
“No-!” Natalie stumbled upright, only to buckle instantly with a sharp cry, falling hard onto the pavement.
Helpless, she could only watch the black sedan disappear down the road, fists pounding weakly against the concrete.

I was already moving. “Natalie!“/I called out as I rushed into the restaurant’s wrecked entryway. Dropping to my knees beside her, I carefully checked her ankle. “It’s a bad sprain. You can’t put weight on it
“Forget about me!” Natalie grabbed my forearm, her eyes swimming with tears. “You have to go after them–Killian, he protected me back there… He’s in trouble!”
I pulled out my phone and hit speed dial. “Kade. Dina’s got Mr. Hawke. Black Mercedes sedan, heading southwest from the pack grounds. Plate is-”
I glanced at Natalie.
“It’s one of the Hawke family cars,” she choked out. “License ends in 668,”
Hanging up, I unzipped my medical kit. “Natalie, let me look at your foot first.”
She gripped my wrist, her fingers trembling. “I don’t need it–just take me with you. We have to find him.”
I held her hand firmly, keeping my voice calm but steady. “You’re in no shape to chase anyone right now. Kade’s already on it, and Mr. Hudson has alerted their private security team. They’ll cover the roads.
