“The Covenant of Seven Passions? That empathy spell?” Natalie’s brow furrowed deeply, and she shot me a confused look. “What are you talking about?”
I took a breath and explained. “The Covenant of Seven Passions is a set of seven emotional–manipulation arts. They were developed and used by the mixed–blood Lycans of the Frostveil Pack. The empathy spell is one of them–it can completely reverse someone’s emotional loyalties. It makes them despise those they once loved and become fixated on the caster. In advanced stages, the victim can even forget their fated mate entirely.”
From the driver’s seat, Desmond chimed in, “That explains why my uncle changed overnight.”
“But Killian, earlier…” Natalie trailed off, her voice breaking as she remembered. “He was still fighting it. He used everything he had to protect me.”
“And that’s what makes it so dangerous,” I said, my tone grim. “If the empathy spell is resisted or backfires, the person under its influence suffers devastating pain–the agony of betraying their bonded mate.”
“That bracelet Dina’s wearing,” I added. “I’m sure it’s a Heartbind Chime. She’s using it to control him.”
“So what do we do now?” Natalie whispered, desperation clear in her tear–filled eyes.
“My foster father is already on his way. He knows how to save Mr. Hawke.” I narrowed my gaze. “Our job right now is to figure out how to get Killian back from Dina before it’s too late.”
As our car passed through the gates of Hudson Manor, I spotted two figures waiting in the courtyard.
One was a middle–aged woman dressed in a simple white robe. Beside her stood an elderly man with silver–white hair, leaning on an ancient–looking wooden staff.
The moment I caught the elder’s scent, my wolf spirit, Lyra, stirred inside me–a rare mix of fear and deep respect.
I couldn’t help but smile faintly. Lyra only reacted this way around one person: my foster father, Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack. They were the most secretive and powerful pack in all of werewolf society.
“Alexander!” I called out, surprised, and quickly helped Natalie out of the car.
ľ
Alexander’s eyes warmed when he saw me. He stepped forward and pulled me into a brief, firm hug before turning his attention to the injured Natalie beside me. “What happened here?”
I gave him the short version. “Dina took Mr. Hawke.
need to find him, fast.”
“Don’t worry,” Alexander said calmly. He gestured to the woman beside him. “This is Sofia Walker She has experience countering the Covenant of Seven Passions.”
Ms. Walker, thank you for coming,” I said, dipping my head respectfully.
Sofia gave a slight nod. “Eradicating the corruption brought by mixed blood Lycans is part of my duty.”
“Please” Natalie begged, her voice shaking. “Can you save Killian?”

Sefia exchanged a look with Alexander, then nodded. “I cannot locate Mr. Hawke directly. But I can perform a tracing ritual to find whoever is actively using the Covenant’s magic”
“Really? That’s… that’s amazing! Natalie’s face lit up with fragite hope.
I felt a wave of relief myself. Finding Dina would lead us to Killian.
Sofia gave another slight nod and drew a tarnished bronze compass from her sleeve.
Facing the direction of the rising moon, she bit her fingertip, closed her eyes, and began to chant in the ancient tongue of the wolves.
Alexander leaned closer to me. “She’s allowing her wolf spirit to commune with the Moon Goddess,” he murmured. “In our entire world, she is the only one with this gift.”
After a long moment of chanting, silence fell. Then Sofia’s eyes snapped open.
“Harbor Docks,” she stated, her expression tightening. “They’re attempting to flee by sea. If they reach open water, tracking them will become far more difficult.”
I immediately pulled out my phone and called Kade. “Kade, we have a location–Harbor Docks. Dina’s trying to take Killian out by boat. You have to stop them before they board. Do whatever it takes.”

Kade’s POV:
The second I ended the call with Nira, I swung the car around and hit speed dial for Edmund.
“Mr. Hudson, target’s at the Harbor Docks. They’re planning to move Mr. Hawke out of Meridia by sea.”
Edmund’s voice came through, steady and all business. “Understood. I’ll reach out to the Council of Elders immediately. All port exits will be sealed within three minutes.”
“Good.”
By the time I arrived at the east harbor with my team, the entire dock area was already swarming with high–level Hudson family guards.
