The moment Derrick saw me, he rushed over like he’d just found his last lifeline.

My heart dropped hard at that. “What do you mean missing? We agreed to meet at the auditorium. When did you last see her?”

He was breathing heavily, trying to steady himself enough to explain. “We were supposed to come here together this morning, so I went to wait outside her dorm early. But her roommate told me she left about two hours before that and hasn’t come back since.”

The more he talked, the more frantic he became. “I checked everywhere she usually goes. My wolf couldn’t pick up anything, not even a trace of her scent. I’ve been calling her too, but her phone’s off.”

I frowned, unease creeping in despite myself. “Could her phone have died?”

“No,” Derrick said immediately, shaking his head with certainty. “That’s not like her. She would never go anywhere without her phone, and she definitely wouldn’t let it shut off.”

That answer settled heavily in my chest, but I forced myself to stay composed. “Okay, don’t panic yet. Go check those places again. Maybe she’s there now and you just missed her. I’ll look into the campus surveillance.”

“Alright.”

We split up without wasting another second.

As I walked away from the auditorium, I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching me from somewhere behind me, hidden in the shadows.

What didn’t make sense was that Lyra hadn’t picked up anything unusual.

That only made it more unsettling.

I didn’t dwell on it. I pulled my laptop out of my bag, found a place to sit, and got to work.

Whoever was on the other side clearly came prepared. The attacks were constant, precise, and aggressive.

I didn’t have time to get dragged into a prolonged fight.

So I switched tactics.

It worked.

He took the bait without hesitation and dove straight into the trap.

The moment he got caught in it, I accelerated my search through the actual system.

My eyes scanned the footage rapidly until something familiar caught my attention.

Tessa.

The timestamp showed 3:42 p.m. She left her dorm and met a guy downstairs. The two of them walked off together.

I zoomed in on his face, captured the image, and immediately sent it to Derrick. Next, I tracked the footage further.

Tessa got into his car. They drove off campus.

That was enough for me.

I exited the school system and immediately broke into the city’s traffic management network.
