Chapter 20 Opposing Quests
Roland was quite surprised.
He gave Alden a meaningful glance, his expression thoughtful.
“Alright, give me the items, and your weapon will be ready in ten hours.”
Alden handed over all the required items for the quest.

“System Notification: You have completed the Roland’s quest. Experience points +9,085. Since you haven’t left the Rookie Village, you cannot receive experience points; they are discarded.”
Alden wasn’t bothered by this; he knew about it from his previous life.
“Adventurer, I can see you have great potential. If you bring me three more items, I can upgrade your Gold–Level weapon to platinum level.”
Alden was shocked. A Gold–Level weapon was already far beyond the current players‘ level, let alone a platinum level one.
However, he more or less guessed what the next quest would be.
“What items do you need?” Alden asked.
“My apprentice, Elvaris, stole a valuable ore. I’ve sent two other apprentices to track him down. If you help them recover the ore, I’ll use it to forge your weapon.”
“System Notification: Roland has assigned you a quest: Recover the Stolen Icenfire Ore.”
“Quest requirements: Recover the Icenfire Ore, or help defeat Elvaris and deal at least 20% damage to him.”
“Quest penalty: None.”
“Quest reward: Unknown.”
Alden raised an eyebrow, confirming the conflict between Roland and the old Village Keeper had begun.
The so–called apprentice betrayal was just a scheme the old Village Keeper set up, placing someone beside Roland, who stole the ore and fled.
On the surface, Roland and the old Village Keeper hadn’t openly clashed, so Elvaris could only escape to the wild.
If some other player was lucky, they could be quested with protecting Elvaris by the old Village Keeper.
“Alright, Roland, I’ll do my best. Do you know where Elvaris is?”
“My two apprentices tracked him to the eastern mine. Elvaris must be hiding in one of its corners.”
Alden raised an eyebrow. The eastern mine was the territory of the level 8 Stonebeetle.
In his previous life, Alden had never heard of any guide for the Stonebeetle Mine.
There might have been one, but it hadn’t been leaked yet.

The game’s hidden maps, bosses, and secret realms were all part of the mystery.
Alden knew a bit about the game’s hidden content, but not much.

Most players kept their discoveries secret, and only after public guilds or factions mined the benefits did they release information.
The strategies Alden knew mainly were those published by guilds or government factions after they had drained the profits.
Otherwise, it was something like the Yellow–Furred Weasel or Twisted Treant, where once activated, there would be a server–wide announcement, and people would quickly figure out the strategies behind it.
“Alright, I’ll head to the mine now and find Elvaris.”
After leaving the village, Alden made his way to the mine.
At that moment, a server–wide announcement was made.
“Server–wide Announcement: Congratulations to the player Dream Snow for completing the first kill of the Aqua Tryant. This announcement is made with the hope that all players will continue to strive forward.”
“Server–wide Announcement: Congratulations to the player Dream Snow for completing the first kill of the Aqua Tryant. This announcement is made with the hope that all players will continue to strive forward.”
Another full–server notification sounded just after Dream Snow’s first kill was announced.
“Server–wide Announcement: Congratulations to the player Fury Warlord for being the first to obtain a hidden class. This announcement is made with the hope that all players will continue to strive forward.”
“Server–wide Announcement: Congratulations to the player Fury Warlord for being the first to obtain a hidden class. This announcement is made with the hope that all players will continue to strive forward.”
Alden sighed. It seemed that some things hadn’t changed from his past life.
Fury Warlord had still acquired a hidden class so quickly.
Such a shame.
Fury Warlord had decent talent, and his game understanding and skills were on point. Still, unfortunately, he had rashly chosen a class that would make him blend into the crowd later in the game.
The Rookie Village.
The mine.
This was an abandoned mine, long neglected, now the home of Stonebeetle.
When Alden arrived, he saw dozens of Stonebeetle wandering outside the mine.

Skills: Armor Break, Stone Shield
These were simple skills, but they were a nightmare for many ordinary players.
Armor Break could decrease the durability of weapons. This skill was highly annoying in the early stages when weapons were
scarce.
Whoosh!

Alden fired an arrow, instantly killing one Stonebeetle.
After farming in the Twisted Forest to collect equipment, Alden’s health had already surpassed 50,000.
With the additional 10,000 health from the Black Iron Treant set, his health surpassed 60,000.
Even without considering the Thunderstorm Bow’s attack power, the raw damage from his health was enough to instantly kill the Stonebeetle.
Dozens of Stonebeetle were wiped out in under 20 seconds.
When the new Stonebeetle respawned, Alden paid them no mind and entered the mine.
Based on his calculations, three NPCs should be inside the mine, possibly more.
“Is it you?”
As soon as Alden entered, a voice of surprise rang out.
He looked up in surprise at the speaker.
It was the assassin player, Shadowrend!
