Chapter 47 The Hidden Secret of Rookie Village!

Alden always thought he knew Rookie Village pretty well.

All the NPCs there were dead, and he’d never heard of Roland having an older brother.

But this man looked way too much like Roland.

They were almost identical.

Alden would’ve sooner believed Roland had come back to life than believed this was someone

new.

“Who told you Roland didn’t have a brother?

“He does. His brother used to be the Village Keeper of Rookie Village. But on his very first day as Keeper, the previous one refused to give up power. They fought, and his brother got kicked out into the wild to survive on his own.”

Alden’s pupils tightened.

The man continued, “The Village Keeper you killed? He’s the previous Keeper of Rookie Village. I should’ve been the current one!”

Now Alden finally got a look at the guy’s stats.

Winton Ironsmith (Silver): Level 20

HP: 5,255,500 / 5,255,500

Attack: 3,999

Skills: ???

Note: Winton is the Village Keeper of Rookie Village and Roland’s older brother. After clashing with the previous Keeper, he was banished and became the wilderness boss of Rookie Village. He’s planning something terrifying. Don’t let him succeed, or face the Gods’ punishment.

Alden’s face went cold.

This guy is a wilderness boss.

And not just any wilderness boss-a Silver-level one.

Right now, he’s way out of everyone’s league.

“So, Winton … I’m curious. What are you plotting? Destroying Rookie Village doesn’t seem to benefit you.”

Normally, Winton would’ve wanted to reclaim his position.

But Rookie Village was already ruined-being Keeper meant nothing anymore.

“Who told you I wanted to be Village Keeper?

“What I want … is to become the crown prince of the Astralon Empire.”

Alden narrowed his eyes.

Princess Leona.

She was the Astralon princess-and right now, she was in Rookie Village.

“She’s right there. You could just go to her directly. Why destroy Rookie Village?”

“Because I have to.”

Winton’s expression twisted-dark and fierce. “Why would Princess Leona ever look twice at a lowly commoner like me? To make her submit, I need her to beg for it.”

“Oh?”

Alden’s interest sharpened. He knew this could unlock a whole new story quest.

“When I got kicked out, I took two Blessing of the Gods with me.

“Later, I found out Princess Leona was here, so I started planning.”

Alden nodded slowly. “Astralon doesn’t have a prince. If you marry her, you could fight for the

throne.”

“Exactly.”

Winton grinned, showing all his teeth. “Didn’t think you knew that much about Astralon.

“If Princess Leona escapes, she’ll leave from the revival altar. That’s why the altar has to be destroyed for good. And the Village Keeper, along with the others… they all had to die.”

Alden’s eyes narrowed. His suspicion was right. “You wanna use this as leverage to force her into submission.”

“Right.”

Winton nodded.

“The Nine-Headed Hydra Tree and Yellow-Furred Weasel? Both mine. Those two Quest Scrolls? My setup. I’ve been waiting for the right sucker to kill the Village Keeper for me.”

Alden chuckled. So all this time, he’d just been someone else’s pawn.

“So why are you here? Shouldn’t you be going after Princess Leona?”

“I’m here to take back the Quest Scroll.”

Winton’s grin widened. “The Blessing of the Gods? I want them too. You’ve had one, so you should be content. Hand over the Quest Scroll and I’ll let you walk.”

Alden raised a brow. “A perfect plan-two opposing quests that fit together without a single seam.”

“That’s right,” Winton said with a nod. “Now that you know, just hand it over.”

“And why would I do that?” Alden smirked. “I’m leaving Rookie Village anyway. Either way, I die. May as well make you work for it.”

Winton’s face darkened. “Fine. With your PK Points, if I kill you, everything worth taking will drop anyway.”

In a blur, Winton lunged toward Alden.

Alden moved too.

Whoosh!

An arrow sliced through the air.

At the same time, Alden chugged three bottles in one go, boosting his speed, attack speed, and

lifesteal.

A huge damage number floated over Winton’s head.

Right after, a big red number appeared over Alden.

Alden’s eyelids twitched.

“Rounded reflect damage?”

That meant the game took the highest damage he dealt, rounded it, and reflected a -often more than 50%.

If someone hit exactly 100, that meant 100% reflection.

And with Winton’s insane HP, a head-on fight was impossible.

Alden sprang upward, landing on the steel cable above.

“Trying to run now? Don’t you think it’s a little late?”

Alden’s gut tightened. His instincts screamed danger.

Sure enough, the cliff wall above split open, and a vine whipped toward him.

“Nine-Headed Hydra Tree?!”

Alden backflipped, barely dodging. But the vine sliced the cable clean in half.

Before he could land, something sliced through the air behind him.

Slash!

Claws scraped against his armor, throwing sparks,
