Chapter 1898: Climb [Bonus]

[Bonus chapter thanks to The Honored One69 <3]

Sylas didn't even glance at the Emperor Dove's corpse. One would have thought that he had just not seen it. But given his senses, how could that be possible?

He raised the scroll into the air and, with a pulse, a teleportation portal swirled into being. Then, he stepped through, and Fanelei followed soon after.

The first thing Sylas felt was the cold winds. Harsh and heavy, they whipped against his skin continuously. Even though there was an abundance of oxygen floating in the air, it was hard even to take a deep breath and benefit from it.

It was almost like even the oxygen itself needed you to be at a certain level to properly use it. In fact, the presence of this oxygen seemed to shift the very balance of oxygen within Sylas' body, almost as though it was pulling out what was already in his body.

There was a slight twinkle of emerald, and Sylas' skin was coated in his Will. The moment it was, the feeling of oppression vanished, and the pulling of oxygen right out of his bloodstream-through his skin and pores and into the outside world-stopped.

Though it had only lasted for a short time, Sylas felt a slight wave of fatigue that quickly began to recover.

'... Interesting...'

Was that a defensive method? Or was it a training method? It was hard to tell, but the answer didn't matter much, as the function was the same either way.

Just staying on this mountain for an extended period of time could certainly improve one's Will rapidly.

Sylas raised a foot and began to move upward.

Since he was the first to set foot on the Monkey King Mountain, there was only one way up.

The long way.

Fanelei followed right after, her gaze flickering all the while. This place... it felt a bit more powerful than a power at the level of the Emperor Sanctum should have. It was peculiar.

Their Mirror Dungeon was already odd, but this...

'No. I'm thinking of it wrong,' Fanelei thought to herself.

Maybe it wasn't that the Mirror Dungeon and these Mountains were odd, but instead that because the Mirror Dungeon was odd, these Mountains were likewise odd. Or maybe... 'Because these Mountains are odd, the Mirror Dungeon is...'

There was no way the Emperor Sanctum should be able to produce a Gold Mirror Dungeon, but here they were.

She looked toward Sylas' back, wondering if he had figured something out. Then she wondered if she should just directly ask him.

After having the thought, she sighed.
