Chapter 109
Chapter 109
Lucien’s POV
The Nightshade courtyard felt suffocating, as though the walls themselves were pressing on my chest. Every step echoed with the reminder that I had been too complacent. If I hadn’t been so obsessed with the fact that I was their target, maybe… maybe this wouldn’t have happened. Scarlett wouldn’t have been kidnapped.
When I saw that the room was a mess, and the warrior I stationed at our door to guard her–thinking that no one should disturb her for the time being–was missing, my heart sank.
I glanced at the warrior, who was now on his knees with his head bowed low.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. I failed my duty.”
Even if he begged, it couldn’t change the fact that Scarlett was gone.
“Can you recall his face? If you want to apologize, help us find my Luna.” I tried to keep my tone calm–I couldn’t let them see my anxiety.
All of this was because of that one spy.
“I—I couldn’t see his face. He was wearing a maid’s outfit, so I assumed he was a servant sent to care for Luna. But I swear, I didn’t let anyone in, not even the maid, because of your command. Still, that maid, who was about my height, managed to strike me down.” the warrior explained.
My gaze turned colder. I wouldn’t let that spy escape easily. But at the same time, I needed to hurry. I didn’t know what that man might do to my Scarlett.
Just then, I looked up as another warrior ran toward me. “Any update?”
Arnold shook his head; his face had long since lost its usual smile.
“We swept the eastern grounds. There was nothing. That damn traitor covered his tracks well and even misled us!”
Damn it.
“I’ll go find her. If you find her, set off fireworks.” I couldn’t wait any longer.
Even though the Nightshade council had tried to keep me from searching, Acouldn’t afford any more delays or risk Scarlett’s safety with warriors who hadn’t found her yet.
Arnold frowned. “But… you haven’t properly rested—”
“How could I rest, knowing my mate is in danger? I can’t stand losing another second. It’s already been thirty minutes, and there’s still no news,” I said coldly, looking at the warriors returning from their search. Like the rest, they hung their heads low and shook their heads, making my heart sink deeper.
But there was one forest everyone avoided–the Hollow Glen. Dangerous, unfamiliar, a den for rogues using it as a hideout.
But there was a good chance that’s where they could be, with Scarlett.
I glanced at them. “Go and keep searching for her. Do not stop until you find her. I’m heading to Hollow Clen.
“Alpha! That’s too dangerous!” one of them protested.

I gave him a cold look. “My Luna is in danger. Go find her. I’ll handle Hollow Glen
Nick and Arnold both stepped forward.
“We’ll go with you. We know the entrances and exits of Hollow Glen,
As they spoke up, the other warriors breathed a sigh of relief and left, heading back out to search for Scarlett
I nodded at Nick and Arnold. “Let’s hurry!”
Scarlett’s POV
I stirred awake with a pounding head and heavy limbs. I remembered the maid who had kidnapped me–pretending to be a servant, making me drink water laced with something to sap my strength and put me to sleep.
Even now I still felt sleepy, my whole body weak. Only by sheer willpower had I woken myself up, because I knew I was in the enemy’s den and couldn’t afford to let my guard down–who knew what they might do while I was unconscious?
But being awake didn’t mean I was safe. I was bound by chains, making any movement–let alone escape–impossible.
When I saw him enter with four burly men showing undisguised lust in their eyes, my heart turned cold. I knew instantly what they wanted.
The butcher, who had posed as a scout to infiltrate our pack, looked at me with pure amusement.
“Lady Faye said if your purity is stolen, you’ll not only be branded a broken Luna, but just a whore who opens her legs to let any man take you.”
I glared, teeth gritted so tightly I wished I could chop off his head and tear the smile from his lips, replacing it with terror.
“You and that vile witch won’t get away with this.”
One of the men laughed. “She’s so feisty–I like it.”
Another licked the corner of his mouth, watching me. “I want to make her a good girl–one who obeys her pleasure and us.
“I can’t wait to fuck her and wipe that expression off her face.”
Their disgusting words made my stomach churn. I wanted dearly to kill them all. I wanted to peel the skin from their faces. cut out their tongues so they could never again say vile words to me–or to anyone–cut off their hands to stop them from ever touching again, and rip out their eyes for looking at me that way.
The butcher chuckled. “Go ahead. I’ll watch.”
“No!” I screamed, fighting against the chains so violently I nearly made my wrists bleed. “If you touch me. I’ll rip your throats out!”
The first man just laughed.
“How are you going to do that–bound like you are?”
He reached for my ankle. My instincts surged; I snapped my leg up as hard as I could, my chained foot catching him in the jaw. He staggered back, swearing.
“She is one feisty little wolf. I want to break her,” another laughed.
