Chapter 168

Scarlett

I’ve been busy handling matters regarding the infrastructures that had been blocked deliberately to mess up with our goods and prevent it from being delivered which messes up the whole system of our plan.

It’s really getting annoying that the family pack who had been targeting us-there’s no clue yet.

I rubbed the line between my brows, my back was still stinging from sore since I refused to drink Lucien’s blood just to heal right away. After all, werewolves especially like me heals faster than an average wolf that’s why I don’t think I need it and besides, a sore body for a whole day isn’t that hard to deal with.

Or so I thought.

Aside that my head was throbbing, my waist were also the same for sitting the same position and for what happened last night.

Damn it.

“Is there still no news, Coby?” I asked, glancing at Coby who was also tired and the bags under his eyes were getting larger and if

we can’t finish this right away, he might turn into a panda.

After all, he has to travel back and fourth. From Crescent Moon to Nightshade Pack.

Coby shook his head. “We still haven’t found which pack messes with our goods yet, however, we already have some lead about it and I already commanded our people to track them down.”

Upon hearing this, I nodded my head in relief. It would be good if they had been identified.

“Also, there seem to be a spy either from the Crescent Moon and the Nightshade who had been providing information to the third party,” I calmly added.

This all won’t happen if there weren’t a spy who could easily access to our information and give it to the other party who had long been waiting to mess us.

“Should I-”

I shook my head. “Focus on identify the pack who had been messing with us and give them a throughout beating in the ahadow, don’t let anyone knows that it was our pack who do so.”

“Understood, Luna. We’ll issue the command at once.” He nodded solemnly, then paused. “What about the spy?”

“Don’t worry about it,” I replied calmly. “I’ll have Arnold and Nick handle them.”

Coby sighed in relief. “If it’s them, it would be better. Just take care, Luna, especially knowing you, you would also Nick and Arnold to confront the spy.”

I let out a soft chuckle, nodding my head. “I know, you too, take care.”

He once again put his hand in his chest and bowed his head in a gentle manner before turning his head, bidding his farewell and left along with the right hand he had chosen-which has a well-built body, clearly had been exposed to fights and wars plus the fact that his presence were low that I sometimes could hardly forgot that there were three of us in a room, not just Coby.

Was he an assassin before?

Helplessly shook my head and stopped thinking about it. If Coby had chosen him as his right hand–which also serves as his bodyguard who could protect him, then meaning he had proven himself that he is capable of doing so.

I glanced at the pile of docuiffets stacking in my desk and couldn’t help but sigh helplessly.

I suddenly miss Archer and Lucien

I want to hurry up and finish dealing with this that my attention and time will be on them

After making my decision, I spent hours focused on the documents, determined to finish everything by evening. I summoned the courier, handed over the letters, signed the papers, and issued my commands-carefully reviewing each document, as some were alliance requests, while others required me to formally reject certain pack families.

It takes me almost eight hours to do so and by the time I was finished, it was already six in the evening

I slowly raised my arms and stretched, rolling my neck that felt like it no longer belonged to me. It throbbed painfully after spending nearly the entire day bent over documents. Sitting for so long had left my waist aching so badly it felt as if it might snap in two.

After stretching. I was about to leave the room when I reached for the door. Before I could open it, a warm embrace wrapped around me from behind. He held me tightly, burying his face against my neck while his hand settled naturally on my waist, gently massaging it as if he knew exactly how much it ached.

“You’re done with work?” he asked softly.

I nodded, letting my body relax fully against his. “Yeah. Can we sleep with Archer tonight? I miss him.”

“Of course,” he said with a small smile. “Our little one would be happy-though he did reject us last night.”

I rolled my eyes at him as he chuckled playfully and lightly slapped his arm. “And you took advantage of that to ram me.”

“Well,” he said smoothly, “you didn’t exactly mind.”

I couldn’t find a single word to argue back.

“Enough. Let’s go find Archer,” I said with a sigh. “He matured too early… I can’t help feeling that it’s our fault. We neglected him.”

I felt him lean closer, his lips brushing gently against my forehead. “We make it up to him,” he said softly. “Once things within the packs finally stabilize.”

I nodded, my gaze turning cold with determination. “I swear, I’ll catch those rats that keep sneaking fround and stirring trouble within our packs. They’ve made everything so much harder than it should be.”

He nodded his head. “Then we have to work harder to catch them then.”

I glared at him. “You better not mess with me tonight. I’m planning to sleep with our son tonight.”

The corner of his lips lifted as he laughed, giving my waist a light pat. “Relax, little wolf. I’m not that much of a beast.

I rolled my eyes at him as we headed toward the study, where Archer usually rested at this hour-with Nanny beside him.

Despite the hunger gawing at me and the fatigue weighing on my body. I pushed it all aside. I wanted to see our little one as soon as possible.

Whenever I saw him, all my exhaustion seemed to disappear. Just thinking about it made the corners of my lips hir

But when we reached the study, my smile faded.

There was no sign of Archer.

No sign of Nanny either.

I didn’t know why, but a bad feeling settled heavily in my chest.

I frowned and turned to the omega who was cleaning nearby in the library.

“Luna. Alpha,” she greeted softly, setting aside her rag and bucket. “How may I serve you, Luna? Alpha?”

“Where is Archer?” I asked.

She paused, her brows furrowed as she tilted her head looking at me in confusion. “I have been here for two hours already but I haven’t seen any signs of the young Alpha and Agatha either. Maybe they are in the garden.”

Right. Archer might have decided to train that’s why he’s in the garden.

I felt a warm hand patted my waist. “Don’t worry, he might just be out playing.”

I frowned. “I don’t even recall him playing like what the other kids do.”

We thanked the omega who resumed from her job and went to the garden to check Archer.

However, there were no signs of them either.

It was as if they had disappeared.

Realizing the situation, Lucien’s eyes darkened as he called the warriors to search for Archer and Agatha who had disappeared.

“Search everywhere! Make sure Archer is safe and unharmed!” Lucien barked the command. The moment he finished speaking, he released his wolf, letting it run free to track our son.

I couldn’t do the same.

Ever since learning about the Dark Moon and my peculiar background, my wolf-Kaya-had seemed to fall into a deep slumber.

I pressed my lips together, anxiety tightening my chest. “What do we do? What if something bad happens to our child?” Why had I worked myself this hard, if not for the pack-if not for him? It was all for our litle one. To give him a peaceful life, far from danger and peril. To protect him tightly. To let him grow up like other children, carefree and safe.

So why was everything starting to slip away?
