Now that both of them were wasted and it’s nearing the closing of the shop only up until midnight. I don’t know to whom I should call to help me with them.

“Is she drunk because of me?” he asked.

Seeing how close and sweet they were, I suddenly got the urge to see Lucien and to know whether he was safe

If there’s still no updates tomorrow, fuck everything, I’ll head to the Montero base.

I snapped from my thoughts as I watched Arnold who was trying to talk to Nick.

As if sensing my gaze, Nick raised his head and looked at me. There was helplessness in those eyes.

“Why did he drink too much alcohol?” he asked. “He never consumed this much alcohol before.”

I smiled, shrugging my shoulder. “I don’t know either and it would be better for you to ask him about that when he’s sober”

Arnold rubbed his brows and he couldn’t help but look at me with hesitant gazes as if he had something he would like to ask yet was debating whether he should ask me or not.

I let out a soft chuckle as I sat on the chair, looking at him. “You can ask me anything and I’ll try to answer it. Don’t hold back from your curiosity.”

Arnold let out a helpless chuckle. “Well… I won’t hold back.”

He sat on the chair right next to Nick whose neck and ears were red and his gaze was hazy.

“Can I ask… what happened to the girl?” His voice was soft and mumbled

If we were not close, I wouldn’t be able to hear this at all.

I tilted my head. “What girl?”

“The girl that Kathleen talks about… the one who was interested in Nick.”

I was about to open my eyes when I saw Nick grumbling, rubbing his eyes.

“Ar…nold?” His voices were hoarse, his brows were furrowed while leaning closer to Arnold, squinting his eyes as if he was trying to see if it really is Arnold and he even grabbed his face, putting both of his palms on both of Arnold’s cheeks.

“W…Why are you here?” he managed to utter in confusion.

Seeing this, Arnold felt helpless as he raised his hand and patted Nick’s hand that was on his face. “To get you. You’re drunk.“

Nick pursed his lips and didn’t break away from his gaze. “W…Why would you come here to get me?”

Arnold chuckled helplessly. “Isn’t it because we’re friends?”

When Nick heard this, his eyes dropped, so did his hands that were touching Arnold’s cheeks as he stopped talking.

Seeing this, Arnold was confused. “What’s wrong?”

“You don’t like being friends with me?” Arnold asked with a hint of tease.
