Chapter 232
Scarlett
The moment I heard him shout, my body moved on instinct. I twisted sharply to the side just as something sharp sliced through the air behind me.
A knife.
It grazed past my right shoulder, severing a few strands of my hair before embedding itself into the stone wall inches from the second warrior’s face. The poor man, already weak, lost consciousness again from sheer terror.
“Another rat who dared to infiltrate my territory again, huh?”
The voice was deep, filled with lethal and mockery.
I hurriedly turned my back, every instinct of me was screaming to raise my guard up to this Alpha.
I watched as he stood tall at the entrance of the cell.
His
eyes were glowing red, wild with aggression. Veins protruded across his temples and down his neck, pulsing grotesquely beneath his skin. It looked horrible and terrifying to look at. His aura was suffocating–thick with murderous intent that pressed against my lungs.
One, who had seen him could tell that he was suffering from something.
Is this what Claude had told us when his own father suffered from mania and would try to kill anyone to ease the pain in his body?
“Luna!”
I snapped from my thoughts when my gaze fell onto his hand.
Claude.
His large hand was wrapped around Claude’s neck, lifting him slightly off the ground. Claude’s fingers clawed at his wrist, legs kicking as he struggled to breathe.
My heart shook violently.
Damn it! I couldn’t even feel him at all. I had been guarding my back earlier, raising my senses to the highest while talking with the Nightshade warriors yet I failed to detect him, ending for him to get Claude,
Before I could blink, he had already appeared in front of me.
His fingers clamped onto my cheeks, gripping hard and forcing my face upward so our eyes met.
His red gaze bored into mine
“Who are you? Why do you look familiar?”
For a split second, I froze.
Then I moved.
I drove my knee upward with full force toward his abdomen while twisting my wrist and slamming my pahn gunst his

elbow joint. The impact forced his grip to loosen just enough-
I ducked, spurr to the side, and kicked off the wall to create distance between us.
I landed several steps away, dagger already in hand.
My gaze darkened.
“Where is Lucien?” I demanded, voice steady despite the chaos inside me.
He didn’t answer.
Instead, he slowly tilted his head, staring at the hand that had touched my face as if something about it fascinated him.
Silence had filled the basement. He couldn even care about me nor my questions as if for him, I’m just nothing but lower than ants.
That only fueled my anger.
“I asked you,” I said sharply, my aura beginning to leak again despite myself. “Where. Is. Lucien?”
This time, he raised his head.
His red eyes locked onto mine.
“Who is the man you’re talking about?” he asked lazily.
My jaw clenched.
“There was only one rat from Nightshade who raided my base.” His lips curled slightly. “Are you from Nightshade too?”
My eyes shrank when I saw his grip on Claude tightened and Claude coughed weakly. His face turned purple, seeming to lack for an oxygen.
Seeing this, rage exploded through my veins as I moved as fast as I could.
Damn this fucking Alpha!
My body shot forward as I took out my weapon from my pocket. Dagger flashing toward his throat–but he vanished a fraction of a second before the blade could connect. I pivoted mid–stride, slashing low toward his ribs. He stepped aside effortlessly.
Too fast. He was too fast that even I could hardly see through his movements.
What kind of being is he?! How could he move this fast? Every of my instincts were screaming for me to run away, that this man was dangerous–yet I held back. I couldn ran away knowing that Lucien was in their hands.
Since Lucien was in their hands… given with how strong he is, if he could, he would have killed Lucien yet based on his words and the way he acted, he haven’t killed him yet.
That’s more than the reason why I couldn’t leave. I won’t leave until I get Lucien and
my
warriors out.
It seeme that even after my promise with Lucien… I have to break it again and again. Fuck this shit
I feinted left, then drove my elbow toward his jaw.

motion
I raised my legs, my kirk swept toward his knge–yes he moved, lifted his leg, casually, avoiding it as if I were moving in slow
I gritted my teeth, frustration and anger swept my heart as I kept on moving forward towards him with the intent to kill
When he thought I was aiming for his face, I twisted at the last second–abandoning the strike completely and diving toward Claude instead.
My shoulder slammed into his arm.
His grip loosened,
I yanked Claude out of his hold and rolled with him across the stone floor.
Claude collapsed against me, coughing violently as he clutched his throat.
I pulled him upright and patted his back, scanning him quickly. “Are you hurt?”
“I’m… fine,” he rasped hoarsely, still catching his breath. “Don’t worry about me. Focus on the old bastard in front of us.” My jaw tightened.
I rose slowly, stepping in front of him, shielding him with my body.
My fingers slipped into my hidden pocket and retrieved another dagger.
Murderous intent surged from me like a rising tide.
“Where is Lucien?” I demanded again, voice laced with deadly falm. “What have you done with him?”
The Alpha watched me with open amusement.
“You,” he said lazily, tilting his head, “are quite pleasing to the eyes.”
Disgust curled in my stomach. This goddamn sick old bastard! Now I get why even his own son couldn’t stand him—he’s simply annoying to the point that I really wanted to wipe that smug on his face!
I gritted my teeth, my eyes darkened further. “Hand him over otherwise I’ll turn this place into a bloodbath.”
He let out a chuckle as he pointed my chest. “You don’t have even your wolf with you–oh… I sec… so you split your wolves huh?”
His gaze fell on my eyes. “You spread them to find the rat you’re looking for, I see.”
My gaze hardened.
“If you follow me,” he continued, lips curving into something sinister. “I’ll allow you to see that Luc–whatever the rat youre looking for.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You think I’d believe you?”
He laughed and just like his abilities, his emotions shifted in a flash.
And murderous intent burst outward, hitting me directly like a mountain collapsing onto my shoulders.

Chapter 232
You should already know by now the difference between the two of us, did you?” His voice coldly rang in my ear that made diy brows furrowed from discomfort.
The pressure was suffocating crushing–mry vision nearly blurred from its weight. Sweat beaded along my spine. My knees trembled for a split second but I did not kneel.
I tightened my grip on my dagger, forcing myself to stand straight. A faint red flicker ignited in my eyes in response.
I watched as his eyes slightly widened as he stared at me.
For a long moment, we stared at each other in silence.
Then, abruptly, he retracted his killing intent.
The crushing pressure vanished.
He looked at me again with amusement.
“Follow me,” he said smoothly. “And I’ll take you to him.”
Claude coughed from behind me. “Don’t follow him,” he rasped. “He’s lying”
The Alpha’s eyes slid toward him, narrowing.
“I regret not killing you sooner,” he said coldly. “Sneaking into enemy territory. Raiding my base. What a rebellious son you
are.”
Claude’s expression darkened instantly.
Fury burned in his eyes.
Before I could stop him-
He lunged.
With knife in hand, he moved like a streak of shadow. He slashed across the Alpha’s chest–once, twice–leaving visible cuts that tore through fabric and skin.
But the Alpha didn’t even flinch.
As if he didn’t feel pain at all, instead, his eyes glowed crimson and I could feel his delight.
What a sick old bastard.
Claude aimed for his neck-
“You improved a bit… but you’re still weak.”
A sharp crack echoed through the basement.
The Alpha’s hand struck Claude across the face with brutal force.
Claude’s small body flew sideways and slammed against the stone wall before dropping to the ground.
“Claude!” I shouted.
