Chapter 24
Scarlett’s POV
Jack froze.

The moment my blood hit the air, his entire body tensed. His eyes widened–not with curiosity, but with sheer panic.
Y-You,” he said in a low, alarmed whisper. “Are you crazy?! What are you doing?!”
The panic in his tone made me pause. I hadn’t expected such a reaction from him over a mere wound. It was just a small cratch, yet he acted as if I had stabbed myself. Scarlett’s POV
“You… You slut!” I paused and looked back at Amanda.
Her shoulders tightened and trembled with frustration as the surrounding she–wolves began shifting their attention.
I stepped forward.
The silence wrapped around us like a stage curtain, pulling the whole hall into the spotlight. Every face turned. Some were curious. Some cautious. Some enjoyed the spectacle, and some… some were waiting for blood.
“If I may,” I began, my voice calm but sharp, “let’s clear something up.”
Amanda flinched. The rest of the wolves leaned in–hungry for more drama, but unsure whose side to take.
I let them be. If they wanted to watch the drama, then I’d show hem drama.
‘Not every woman who wears something alluring does it to please a man. Our value isn’t defined by how much skin we show -or don’t. That mindset is outdated, and frankly, pathetic.”
The air thickened with anticipation. I couldn’t care less about Amanda’s fluster.
I scanned the room slowly, letting my gaze fall on each pair of curious eyes.
In the Nightshade Pack,” I continued, “I’ve seen women in battle armor by day and figure–hugging gowns by night. Warriors, generals, mothers, betas, alphas. Strength and beauty aren’t enemies. You can wear a blade on your hip and heels on your feet–and still command respect.”
I looked back at Amanda, my eyes cool. “Unless, of course, you think that dressing beautifully is the same as inviting every male in the room to pounce on you?”
Her jaw clenched and twitched, but no words came.
Her face was red, her shoulders trembling, and her eyes stared at me like daggers, waiting to strike.
I looked at her with a calm smile.
A slow murmur spread throughout the crowd. The shifts were subtle, but unmistakable. She–wolves who had once looked at me with judgment were now giving Amanda sharp glares and narrow glances.
Amanda’s authority had long crumbled like ash in the wind.
Some even stepped away from her.
I saw a few cross their arms and shake their heads in disappointment. Hostility had blossomed–but not toward me
“You–you! Scarlett! A broken Luna! How dare you embarrass me like this?! Do you fucking forget who I am!! Amanda couldn’t take any more embarrassment and lashed out, her words leading to more murmurs echoing through the hallway
I raised my brow and chuckled. “I don’t know who you are, but I know who I am”
“My name is Scarlett Winter,” I said clearly, my voice rising above the lum. “I came to the Nightshade Pack not just as Lucien’s guest, but as a representative of a cause.”

A pause. Let them lean in.

“I’m here to fight for something our kind has ignored for too long–equality. Among Alphas. Among ranks. Among she- wolves. And if any of you wish to discuss that further, my door is open. I will never silence another woman the way others. tried to silence me.”
For a moment, the room stood frozen in that delicate tension between fear and reverence.
Then, from behind me, a single pair of hands began to clap.
I turned.
Kathleen stood there, a proud, knowing smile spreading across her face.
She clapped louder.
A moment later, another joined her. Then another. And another. Applause spread throughout the hall like wildfire until the sound echoed off the marble walls.
I didn’t bow. I didn’t smile.
I looked at Amanda, straight into her burning eyes.
“Slut you may call me–but remember, it’s always the woman you fear that you try to shame.”
This time, I brushed past her and walked toward Kathleen, who was grinning from ear to ear as she gave me a thumbs–up.
“That was hella cool!” she whispered. “You gained the respect of many.”
I just helplessly shook my head. “Anyway, where’s Alpha Lucien’s Beta?”
“Jack?” she arched her brow. “What do you need him for?”
“I need his help for something. Have you seen him?”
Kathleen pursed her lips. “I’ve been networking most of the evening. The males usually hang around the southern garden terrace–off the east wing. They’re either talking strategy or placing stupid bets on sparring matches.”
I nodded. “Thanks.”
“But what did you need him for? Maybe I can do it.” She volunteered.
I chuckled and patted her head. “Enough with those gossip eyes. I just need him to confirm something, nothing more.”
She pouted. “You better be. Otherwise, if my brother finds out, you’re dead and I’m dead too.”
I just laughed.
The hall faded behind me, and the garden terrace opened ahead.
A narrow path flanked by shadowed hedges led to the edge of the estate. A low golden light shimmered over the marble railings, and the scent of fresh–cut herbs lingered in the warm breeze.
I moved quietly, eyes roaming around, trying to find a trace of Alpha Lucien’s beta.

took a step forward, raising my bleeding finger.
I need to test something.” I said quietly. “Don’t worry.”
ack’s hands lifted slightly as he stepped back.
Whatever you’re planning to do, don’t involve me, Luna,” he said, fear in his voice.
frowned.
sn’t his reaction a bit too much?
What are you scared of? It’s just a small wound. I just want you to lick it for me.” I looked at him–he was clenching his fist, but not to punch me, more like to restrain himself.
Does he have the same healing? Or was Lucien just that special?
ack shook his head. His whole body was tense, like a soldier walking straight into a landmine. “Lucien–if he sees this…. If he mells blood and sees me close to you–he’ll think I hurt you! He just told us not to let you get injured. Even a tiny injury could lead to consequences from him!”
He said that?
The corner of my lips lifted. I faked a cough and shook my head.
‘He won’t know. Just… I just want to confirm something. It’s not like I want to hurt myself either,” I said helplessly, stepping closer to him.
“You’re going to get me killed!” Jack exclaimed.
I raised my hand, and the blood dripped to my wrist. “I order you, Jack. Lick my blood.”
Jack paused then let out a growl as he knelt on one knee, held my wrist, and started licking my blood.
I stared at my finger as he licked it, frowning.
It’s not the same. He’s not the same as Lucien.
