Gold Moon Mated To The Beta Twins (Meadow) novel Chapter 490

Chapter 490 Take Responsibility for Me

Emerson’s lips parted, but he couldn’t get a single word out.

He knew better than anyone that Stella was the type who never acted unless she was certain. And when she did, she never left her enemies a second chance.

From the start, this was a total steamroll, one side crushing the other without mercy.

The only shot at changing fate had been thrown away by Dexter’s own decision.

“Emerson!” Dexter’s eyes were bloodshot, and he was shaking all over. He’d never been hit by regret this hard in his entire life.

“Shut up!” Emerson snapped, closing his eyes and forcing himself to calm down. When he opened them again, his face was composed, but his eyes were full of complicated emotions. He looked at Stella. “Believe it or not, I never wanted to be your enemy.”

Stella just raised an eyebrow, looking indifferent.

She clearly didn’t care.

After quickly weighing the pros and cons, Emerson turned to Bernard. “Bernard, I sincerely apologize. Some of my family members aren’t feeling well, so we’ll be leaving now.”

Bernard’s weathered face radiated authority as he just snorted coldly at Emerson’s words.

He was still fuming.

Salem was Bernard’s son. After what happened today, there was no way Bernard was going to let this slide. Emerson knew it all too well, caught between a rock and a hard place. The Clinton family’s top spot in Jaffina was hanging by a thread.

Realizing this, Emerson turned back, his gaze turning icy and predatory as he fixed it on Sophie. Sophie had never felt this terrified and hopeless in her life. Her eyes flickered with panic. “Bro, it was… It was Seth, he made me do it, I…”

She knew better than anyone that while Emerson always played the perfect gentleman, when it came to his enemies, he could be absolutely merciless.

If she really went back to the Clinton family, Sophie didn’t even dare to imagine what kind of hell her life would turn into.

She looked around, lost and confused.

Everyone was either glaring at her with hatred or staring at her like she was nothing.

Those eyes were the endless hell and darkness that awaited her.

“Sophie, don’t worry. After all these years with the Clinton family, we’ll make sure you’re taken care of,” Emerson said, his tone full of dark implication.

He was absolutely going to make sure she got exactly what she deserved.

As the curtain fell, everyone quietly drifted away.

Once the Clinton family had left, Stella lazily gestured for John to drag Seth back. He’d tried to slip away in the chaos. Seth was nothing like the cocky guy from before. He was shaking like a rat caught in the open, totally panicked.

After all, he had seen real blood on the battlefield back in the day, one swing, one head gone.

“It’s all a misunderstanding!” Seth stammered, his legs shaking so hard that when he met Bernard’s eyes, he nearly pissed himself right there.

Stella barely bothered to look up. “You guys can handle the rest yourselves.”

“Now, as for you…” Bernard shot a look over and motioned for his guards to take Seth off John’s hands.

Stella headed straight for Sebastian. She was about to grab Lucas’s hand first, but the second Sebastian shot her that icy glare, she hesitated.

Seeing the two of them sizing each other up, she let out a helpless sigh and just took both their hands at once.

The two, one tall, one small, stood there with matching poker faces.

She glanced down.

Each stared at the other’s hand, both now firmly in Stella’s grasp.

“Hmph!” They both let out a cold snort at the same time.

They shot each other a frosty glare and snorted in unison.

Stella just ignored it.

“Time to go home,” Stella said.

She had zero interest in playing nice with the crowd outside. Her goal was met. Now it was up to the Harper family to clean up their own mess behind closed doors.

Two hours later, they were back at the villa in the Harmony Scenic Area.

The night breeze was soft and cool.

The table was piled high with fondue fixings. Stella, fresh from her shower and now in a loose black hoodie, stepped out to see Big Ben decked out in a black-and-white maid outfit, cradling the plain plant in one arm and Blackie in the other.

On his head, topped with a cute lace headband, perched the peregrine falcon and Pebble.

“Stella!” Big Ben’s eyes practically shot out pink hearts.

“Where’s Lucas?” Stella glanced at the fondue. She thought, ‘Big Ben is so good. He’d even set up a fondue.’

Big Ben tilted his head playfully, looking adorable. “Not gonna ask about Sebastian first?”

Stella just ignored it.

She grabbed the coconut water from the table, took a slow sip through the straw, expressionless, just watching it as she drank.

Big Ben froze, eyes wide like saucers.

Suddenly, the nightmare of getting his chip ripped out flashed through his mind. He bowed so fast it was almost a reflex. “Sebastian’s giving Lucas a bath!”

‘Alright then,’ she thought.

She flopped into the lounge chair, propping her head up with one hand as she scrolled through her phone. The Sidekicks” group chat she’d muted ages ago was still buzzing, but those old geezers were suspiciously quiet.

She dropped a few bucks in the group chat for fun.

Not a single one got snatched up.

Stella narrowed her eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them. But before she could do anything, Emily, fresh from her shower and staying over tonight, flopped down beside her with a dramatic thud. “Hey, my Stella!”

She smelled amazing.

Blake, wearing his slippers, was a step too late and could only watch helplessly as Emily snatched Stella away.

He was so mad.

“Stella!” Allan strolled out in a black silk pajama set, looking all smug and flamboyant with his broad

shoulders and trim waist.

He was holding something as he walked over, and John, who was also coming over with a package, couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

“Ms. Carter, your package,” John said.

Stella raised an eyebrow.

‘Wait, my package?’ Stella wondered.

She just reached out and grabbed it, not bothering to sit up, then ripped it open without a care. Inside was a fancy invitation, silver, with gold embossed letters.

It was from Nova Group.

“Hey, Stella, how come your invitation looks different from ours?” Blake was the first to spot it, stretching his neck to get a better look. “And what’s this?” Blake asked.

He jabbed a finger at the white feather pressed into the wax seal on the invitation.

Emily said, “Is it a feather from a chicken?”

Blake said, “A white peacock?”

Emily said, “A pigeon?”

Blake said, “A Call duck?”

Allan recognized it instantly, his expression turning subtle. “Could it be… A token of affection?”

He was dropping a hint.

Emily’s eyes widened.
