Grant could no longer suppress the massive grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.

"It's your home. Of course you can live there. I'll simply explain the situation to Lyla."

"She's got a kind heart. I'm sure she'll be thrilled to have you back."

"Wait for me," he added immediately. "I'll be there soon."

He ended the call, staring down at the glowing screen. Every last ounce of hostility and doubt had vanished from his eyes.

Meanwhile, just down the stairs in the living room, a completely contrasting scene was still unfolding.

Nathaniel was still raging in the center of the floor, spraying saliva as he trashed Sienna's name.

"Jinx! Slut! I hope she rots!" he shrieked, stabbing his finger furiously at the ceiling.

Madeline stood by helplessly, wanting to calm him but repeatedly biting her tongue.

On one floor, a husband screamed obscenities into the air, cursing a woman's wickedness. On the floor above, his son clutched a phone, his eyes swimming with the sickeningly sweet tenderness of a lover returning.

The juxtaposition under the exact same roof was nothing short of absurd.

Grant shoved the phone back into his pocket, straightened his lapels, and headed straight for the front door.

"Stop right there!" Nathaniel finally noticed him and barked out, "Where do you think you're going?"

"I have business to handle," Grant said without breaking his stride.

"What business?!" Nathaniel snapped angrily. "I'm dead serious about this! You need to finalize that divorce with that wretched woman immediately! The sooner the better!"

"She's dragged this family through the mud! The stock is plummeting, and I just got out of a jail cell! If you don't cut ties now, she's going to bury us alive!"

Nathaniel had absolutely no idea that his son and Sienna had already signed the divorce papers.

They simply hadn't announced it publicly yet. As far as the rest of the world was concerned, Sienna was still his legal wife.

Grant paused at the door.

He looked down, long lashes casting shadows over his unreadable expression.

After a long moment, he looked back up. His tone was breezy, dripping with an indescribable, arrogant smugness.
