The familiar iron gates of the villa slowly creaked open for Sienna.

Wearing a pair of simple flats, she strolled into the courtyard at a leisurely pace.

The morning autumn sun slanted across the stone-paved path, and the air still carried the crisp chill of the night before.

In the past, she used to pace this very path on her tiptoes, desperately waiting for Grant to return home. Now, her footsteps were perfectly steady, entirely devoid of any lingering attachment.

Susan the maid was crouching by the flowerbeds, pruning the roses. At the sound of the gates, she looked up. The moment she realized who it was, her wrinkled face elongated into a sour scowl.

She scrambled up and marched over, planting herself firmly in the doorway. Hands on her hips, she let out a shriek sharp enough to tear the roof off.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in."

"Didn't you run off with your side-piece? How do you still have the nerve to show your face around here?"

Sienna treated the woman like literal air, not even bothering to bat an eyelid as she continued walking forward.

Seeing her advancing, Susan immediately thrust out an arm to block her.

"Let me spell it out for you! This is Ms. Lennox and Mr. Gauthier's home now! There's no place for a trashy—"

Before she could finish her sentence, a loud smack echoed through the courtyard. A vicious, clean slap landed squarely on Susan's cheek.

The force was no joke. Susan's entire body whipped sideways, and she stumbled back two steps, clutching her face in utter, stunned silence.

A dead silence fell over the yard, broken only by the rustling of the roses in the breeze.

"You... you hit me?!"

Susan cradled her burning cheek, her eyes bulging out of their sockets as her voice cracked.

"How dare you lay a hand on me!!"

Sienna looked down at her with absolutely zero remorse.

"You're an insolent maid who forgot her place. I hit you, so what?" she stated flatly, as if discussing the weather.

"I haven't forgotten a single one of the little stunts you pulled to make my life hell."
