Three black SUVs tore out of the mansion's underground garage, in hot pursuit.
"How did they react this fast?" Archie, sitting in the passenger seat, threw a glance over his shoulder.
"Cillian installed infrared sensors at the mansion." Lucas's gaze turned frosty. "We tripped the alarms."
He clicked on his comms. "Trace, execute the plan."
"Copy that," came the terse reply.
The car swerved onto the main road, the speedometer redlining at eighty miles per hour.
The pursuers tailed them relentlessly, the gap closing inch by inch.
Suddenly, at the intersection ahead, two heavy-duty semi-trucks drove out horizontally, completely barricading the street.
Lucas reacted in a flash, jerking the steering wheel hard.
The SUV drifted a brutal ninety degrees, tires shrieking against the pavement, barely scraping past the tail end of the semi as it shot through.
The men behind them weren't so lucky. The lead car failed to brake in time and slammed violently into the truck.
The other two vehicles swerved wildly to avoid the wreck, rapidly losing speed.
"Beautiful," Archie let out a breath of relief.
"It's not over yet." Lucas kept his eyes glued to the rearview mirror. "They called for backup."
Just as he spoke, two more black SUVs blasted out from a side road ahead, speeding straight toward them for a head-on collision.
"Brace yourselves!" Lucas roared.
Instead of hitting the brakes, he punched the gas, barreling straight toward them.
At the absolute last second before impact, he wrenched the wheel. The SUV tilted onto two wheels, scraping heavily against the guardrail as it squeezed through the impossibly narrow gap between the oncoming cars.
The chassis shrieked against the metal barrier, sending a shower of sparks into the night.
Sienna was thrown violently to the side by the sheer momentum, her shoulder slamming hard into the door. She let out a muffled groan of pain.
"Sienna!" Catching her pained expression in the mirror, Lucas's eyes filled with distress.
"I'm fine," Sienna gritted her teeth. "Just go."
The SUV launched off the main road and dove into a narrow alleyway.
Because the pursuers' vehicles were too wide, they were temporarily shaken off.
"The docks are just ahead," Archie said, checking the GPS. "Trace's boat is already waiting."
