By ten o'clock the next morning, seven or eight cars had steadily rolled into the area surrounding the villa.
They were all Lucas's men.
Sienna stood by the second-floor window, watching the highly trained bodyguards establish a perimeter. Her chest swelled with a mix of gratitude and intense guilt.
"Ms. Sawyer, it's time for breakfast." Zara walked in carrying a tray.
The spread was exquisite: bread, milk, fresh fruit, and a warm bowl of oatmeal.
Sienna sat at the table and picked up her spoon.
The oatmeal was mild and comforting, exactly what she needed.
"Mr. Lowery specifically requested it," Zara mentioned softly from the side. "He said you've been through too many scares lately and needed to eat something soothing for your stomach."
A warm feeling spread through Sienna's heart.
Just then, Lucas's voice drifted up from downstairs.
"Aaron, are the perimeter sensors fully calibrated?"
"All set, Mr. Lowery. Any vehicle breaching a two-mile radius will trigger the automated alarm."
"Excellent."
Sienna set her spoon down and headed downstairs.
In the living room, Lucas was strategizing with a few of his men.
Seeing her come down, he immediately walked over. "Why didn't you sleep in a little longer?"
"I couldn't sleep," Sienna replied honestly.
Lucas glanced at her, then turned back to his team. "Give us a minute."
Once the men had cleared out, he spoke, "Worried Cillian's going to show up?"
Sienna nodded.
"Don't worry, he can't." Lucas sounded completely certain. "I've set up three lines of defense outside. Unless he's actually ready to declare all-out war with the Lowery family, he wouldn't dare force his way in."
The moment he finished speaking, an earsplitting alarm blared from the study.
Lucas's face hardened as he sprinted for the room.
Sienna bolted right after him.
On the surveillance feed, a convoy of five black SUVs was tearing straight toward the villa.
They were moving with aggressive speed, clearly out for blood.
"It's Cillian's men." Lucas narrowed his eyes. "He didn't waste any time."
He grabbed the walkie-talkie. "Everyone to your stations. Prepare to engage."
"Copy!" barked a synchronized chorus through the radio.
Sienna watched the convoy draw nearer on the screen, her palms slick with cold sweat.
"Don't be afraid." Lucas took her hand. "I'm right here."
The convoy slammed on their brakes about half a mile from the villa.
From the lead SUV, Cillian shoved the door open and stepped out.
He was dressed in a long black trench coat, looking exceptionally ruthless under the morning sun.
Behind him, over twenty bodyguards poured out of the cars, every single one radiating lethal menace.
"Lucas, come out," Cillian demanded, his voice slicing through the air.
Lucas stepped out of the villa, standing at the top of the stairs to look down at him.
"Did you bring this army here to negotiate, or to start a war?"
"Hand over Sienna, and I'll walk away right now." Cillian cut straight to the point.
"And if I say no?"
"Then don't blame me for getting ugly." Cillian's eyes turned arctic.
He flicked his hand, and his bodyguards immediately began advancing.
