Sienna Sawyer paused for a moment and clicked open the operation logs.

The last modification was made at two fifty-two in the afternoon, which was exactly when she had been away to deliver the documents.

She stared at the screen, her fingers freezing over the mouse.

Low laughter drifted over from the side, where Zoey Miller was whispering into a coworker's ear, glancing over from the corner of her eye with a high, smug smirk.

Right then, Ms. Zeller walked over to check on her.

"Sienna, where's the data? Didn't you say it would be done before three?"

"The system had a glitch, so I'm redoing..."

"What glitch?" Ms. Zeller frowned, stepping behind her monitor to take a look. "Why haven't you sorted a single file? Is this how you work?"

Sienna opened her mouth to explain the operation logs, but Zoey had already interjected.

"Ms. Zeller, I saw her slacking off the whole time. She hasn't done any work at all."

"Yeah, exactly." A few others chimed in. "We all saw it."

Ms. Zeller's face darkened as she glared at Sienna.

"I don't care how you managed to sweet-talk Mr. Gauthier, but remember, you are here to work, not to chase after men."

"Put away your dirty little tricks. Otherwise, I'll kick you out even if it costs me my own job."

Sienna clenched her fists, a suffocating wave of frustration washing over her.

"I did the work. The logs show that the data was deleted while I was away from my desk."

"Are you implying someone intentionally deleted it?" Ms. Zeller's tone turned icy. "It's one thing to be lazy, but now you're shifting the blame onto your coworkers."

Zoey dramatically adopted the look of an innocent victim, raising her voice a few pitches.

"I've been busy with my own reports all afternoon. I haven't even touched her computer. You can check the security cameras above my desk, Ms. Zeller."

Ms. Zeller waved a hand dismissively. "Enough. Stop arguing."

"Sienna, whatever the reason, it's your responsibility if something goes wrong with your tasks. You must finish it today. If you can't, you can explain it to Mr. Gauthier yourself."

After Ms. Zeller left, Zoey crossed her arms and stared at Sienna, lowering her voice.

Sienna froze.

She hadn't even checked the contents before delivering the file; she was simply doing a favor for Zoey.

"I wasn't in charge of this file. Zoey asked me to drop it off for her. I never touched the contents. You can ask her yourself."

"Sienna," Grant cut her off, his voice laced with frost.

"On your first day, you slack off, submit a trashy document, and then blame your colleagues when things go wrong."

He paused, a mocking sneer tugging at his lips.

"Can you do anything besides getting pregnant?"

Sienna's heart took a brutal hit from his words.

The insult felt like a rusted nail driving straight through her ears and lodging itself into her very core.

She looked at the man in front of her, but his face held nothing but a cold indifference, like a solid wall without a single crack.

Sienna swallowed hard, forcing down the overwhelming surge of bitterness and humiliation.
