The entire movement was fluid, devoid of a single wasted second.

Watching his wife being held by another man ignited an explosive, territorial rage within Grant. He immediately stepped into their path.

"Put her down!"

"Get out of my way," Lucas snarled, his voice laced with ice.

"Give my wife back! You are not walking out that door with her!"

Seeing Grant so desperate over Sienna nearly made Lyla grind her teeth to dust with jealousy.

Lucas looked down at the woman in his arms. Her face was ashen, drained of every drop of blood, her brows knitted tight in silent suffering. A profound, undeniable heartache swelled in his chest.

When he looked back up at Grant, that tenderness hardened into absolute, piercing disgust.

"Move, or her death is on your hands!"

"Her death?" Grant erupted, firmly planting his feet to block the exit.

"Save the dramatic threats, Lucas! She is carrying the Gauthier heir. If you think you're walking out of here with my wife and child, I'll—"

Before he could finish his threat, Lyla suddenly let out a sharp cry. She collapsed onto the floor, looking up at Grant with pathetic, helpless eyes.

"Grant, I think I twisted my ankle. It hurts so much..."

Operating on sheer instinct, Grant rushed over to her side, his face etched with worry.

"Don't worry, Lyla. I'll take you to the hospital."

Through the haze of her agony, Sienna's eyes fluttered open just in time to witness Grant abandoning her to fuss over Lyla.

Lyla caught her gaze, flashing a subtle look dripping with triumphant malice.

Seizing the opening, Lucas carried Sienna out, striding rapidly toward the elevators.

...

The Maybach tore down the asphalt.

In the backseat, Sienna was curled up against Lucas's chest. The pain was so blinding she was teetering on the edge of consciousness, broken moans escaping her lips.

Her hands clamped onto his shirt in a white-knuckled death grip.

Lucas held her freezing hand tightly. There was absolutely no warmth left in her skin.

"If you had brought her in thirty minutes later, we would have had to perform an emergency hysterectomy to save her life."

A suffocating silence blanketed the hallway.

Lucas snapped his head up, staring at the doctor in sheer disbelief.

A miscarriage?

Sienna had lost her baby?

She had endured all of this agony, and she hadn't breathed a single word of it.

Just an hour ago, Grant had been barking about his wife and child. That oblivious bastard didn't even know his own wife had miscarried.

A wild, consuming fury roared to life in Lucas's chest.

Grant Gauthier was an absolute monster.

...

When Sienna finally woke up, the hospital room was dead quiet.
