The Lennox family was severing ties with her?!

The words sent a shockwave through the room.

A cold chill swept through Lyla's entire body. She turned stiffly toward the couple she had called "Mom and Dad" for over twenty years.

"Dad... what did you say?"

Alistair refused to look at her. His eyes remained fixed on Eleanor, his back still slightly bowed in a posture that screamed he just wanted this mess over with.

"You heard him clearly," Rosalind answered for him, her tone completely flat. "You've practically obliterated the Lennox family's dignity. We raised you for all these years. We've more than fulfilled our duty."

Tears immediately welled up in Lyla's eyes, and this time, they weren't fake.

She lunged forward, grabbing Beatrice's sleeve. "Dad, Mom, don't listen to her! I'm your daughter! You can't just throw me away!"

Yet Alistair coldly turned his head away, and Beatrice wouldn't even spare her a glance.

Beatrice pulled her sleeve out of Lyla's grip. The motion wasn't forceful, but it was decisive.

"We've already hired lawyers. The paperwork severing our relationship will be finalized this afternoon." Her voice held zero warmth. "Lyla, you made this bed. Now lie in it."

Lyla's blood ran entirely cold. She swayed violently, stumbling back a half-step and nearly collapsing.

Fortunately, Grant stepped in just in time to steady her.

She couldn't believe it. She had been their pampered princess since childhood, given everything she ever wanted. How could they just push her away for an outsider like Rosalind?

So what if it was later proven she wasn't their biological daughter? They raised her; they were her parents for life.

They couldn't just discard her like this!

Rosalind paid her no more attention. She turned back to Eleanor and bowed once again.

Thus, persuaded by Rosalind, he had finally steeled his resolve and chosen the Lowery family.

Alistair gritted his teeth, silently praying his choice wasn't a mistake.

In the living room, Lyla was left completely alone, standing there in isolation.

She looked like a clown abandoned by the entire world.

Instinctively, she looked to Grant, her tears flowing harder, praying he would step up and shield her just like before.

But earlier, right when the Lennox family announced they were cutting ties, Grant had been about to intervene, only to be glared down by Nathaniel.

His grandmother had already fainted once. If she collapsed again because he defended Lyla, he truly would be completely heartless.

"They've all left. Why haven't you gotten the hell out yet?" Eleanor spat, shooting Lyla a look of pure disgust.
