Milo’s POV

Absolutely yes. It is time for basketball. Jace and I spoke with Dylan, and he consented to
join in with our plan. He also disapproved of Rowan’s behavior toward Scar. She is Natalie’s
closest friend. Dylan supports her, and he is protective of her since she also provides him
with meals. He does not want her to leave because Rowan causes her discomfort.
“Hey Rowan, are you interested in a basketball game?” Dylan inquires, spinning the ball on his index finger.
“Yeah, that sounds perfect. I am extremely bored. I assumed relocating here from my small
Kentucky town would be far more thrilling. I mean, do not misunderstand me–the women
here are attractive, but there is not much happening in terms of work.”
“Isn’t that a positive? It means less chance of any of us getting injured,” I remark.
“I would not get hurt; I am skilled at the job,” Rowan states with arrogance. Jace and I roll
our eyes.
“So, how are we dividing into teams?” Rowan asks, rubbing his palms together.
“Jace and Milo versus us, two on two. The first pair to reach twenty points wins,” Dylan
declares.
Rowan glances at the time displayed on the wall. A large digital clock shows eleven in the
morning.
“Good, we can burn some calories before Scar serves us whatever amazing food she is
preparing today,” he says. “I swear, I have had to follow her workout routine just to keep up
with her cooking. I imagine you two burn plenty of calories at home, having intense sex with
her, right? If she were mine, I would spend all day on our days off fucking her.”
“Do not ever think about fucking our girl!” Jace snarls.
“Relax, Jace, I am only speaking honestly. You two are incredibly lucky guys. She is
extremely attractive.”
“You know what, Rowan? If I were you, I would keep quiet,” Dylan warns.

“Hey guys, where is Scar?” a woman’s voice shouts. They are outside the station where the
basketball hoop stands.
“Wow, who is that gorgeous woman?” Rowan mutters.
“Mine,” Dylan growls, and he sprints over to Natalie.
I smile at Dylan’s reaction. We all observe as he runs to her, grips the back of her neck, and
crushes his mouth against hers. Her moan is audible as she sinks into him.
“Well, that is certainly one method of marking your territory,” Jace comments with a grin.
“Hey Natalie. Scar is inside the kitchen. Just go through those large glass doors over there,” I tell her. I embrace her, and then Jace does the same. He whispers something into
her ear, and she nods.
“Let us begin this game.”
For five minutes, Jace and I play honestly. We pass the ball, maneuver around the limited space, and take shots. The rest of the men and women come outside. They arrange camping chairs to watch us play. We are all shirtless, and we receive wolf whistles from everyone, which makes us laugh.
The game continues. Scar and Natalie come out. Scar introduces Natalie to some people she has not met before. They each take a seat and watch. I catch the eye of Jace and
Dylan. They both nod in acknowledgment.
The score is five to three in favor of Jace and me. Rowan has the ball, and as he attempts a shot, Jace drives his elbow into Rowan’s stomach. The air rushes out of Rowan, causing his
shot to fall short.
“What the hell was that, Jace?”
“Just part of the game, Rowan.”
“That was clearly a foul.”
“No, there are no fouls here. This is not professional basketball; we are only playing for fun.”
“Whatever,” Rowan mumbles.

Dylan and I conceal our smiles. Rowan raises his hands for Dylan to pass him the ball. Dylan throws it, but before the ball reaches him, I pivot in front of Rowan, delivering a solid body check, and seize the ball. Rowan falls, scraping his knee and elbow.
“Ow, damn it. Why are you guys playing as if it is life or death? I believed this was just for
fun.”
“It is; stop complaining,” I reply.
I take the shot, and it swishes cleanly through the net. We continue playing with that same aggression for another twenty minutes. Dylan even steps in front of Rowan, tripping him and causing him to land on his backside.
“We are on the same team, Dylan. What is wrong with you!”
“Dude, it is not my fault you move to the left. I assume you are heading right.”
The sound of quiet laughter becomes audible. The spectators understand what is occurring. The Chief wears a broad smile, while Brenna and Tessa cannot contain their giggles. In fact, the only individuals who appear confused are Natalie and Scar. I hurry over to my girl and plant a firm kiss on her lovely lips.
