“I am aware of the location where she is employed, but her place of residence remains

better myself. Therefore, the moment has arrived for me to reclaim my wife. I simply need to see her, and to demonstrate to her that I am a changed man. This is despite the fact that

Rowan offers a nod and then a shrug.

“You could always resort to kidnapping her,” Rowan suggests.

He smiles, “I am joking, goodness. Merely call out her name. When she turns to identify

who is calling to her, that is when you make your approach. Apologize, plead, humble yourself. Purchase some jewelry, flowers, chocolates for her. Women are fond of that kind of thing.”

“Yes, yes, I will do exactly that. I will buy her some items. Hey, I appreciate it.”

“It is no trouble. It was a pleasure to meet you. I hope everything resolves well for you.”

He rises and shakes my hand. Then he departs. I remain seated at our table for a while

longer, contemplating what to purchase for her. It occurs to me that I have never truly

bought Scar anything, and that realization stops me short. I have only ever presented her

with gift cards for establishments she prefers. How profoundly unromantic. I need to

elevate my efforts.

She currently has two boyfriends, and I would wager they lavish her with all sorts of

presents. Yes, I will elevate my efforts. She will find it impossible to resist me. I will send a

bouquet of flowers and a bracelet to her workplace. I will also need to determine her time

of departure from work. I imagine it is around five or six o’clock.

After settling the bill, I summon a rideshare to transport me back to my weekly rental. I
