Chapter 44

Jace’s POV
Christ, that house fire had been vicious. I glanced over at Milo and caught the same wrecked, hollow
exhaustion on his face that I felt in my bones. The rig was already rolling back toward the station, and
my stomach was making threats. I didn’t know who was on dinner, but I did know it wasn’t going to be
Once we pulled in, the routine kicked in. We climbed down, went over the truck, double–checked
equipment, made sure everything was accounted for and squared away.
Then we stripped out of our gear and headed for showers like our lives depended on it.
I had barely gotten under the spray when my curtain snapped open and Milo slid in like he owned the
place.
“What the hell are you doing?” I hissed. “If the Chief finds out, we’re screwed.”
I wasn’t actually stopping him, though. The second he crowded into my space, my body had already
decided for me.

Milo’s mouth tipped into that Shag ar gin, and ne wrapped around me and his tongue traced the head, hot and slow.
“Fuck, Milo.” My fingers threaded into his hair, guiding him.

He opened up and took me deep in one smooth motion, and my head fell back against the tile. He held
steady while I drove into his mouth, his throat relaxing as he let me use him. His tongue moved- teasing, swirling–while I pushed in and out of that wet heat.
When my grip tightened, he moaned around me.
My balls drew up. I shoved deeper, and he swallowed, tight and perfect.
“Fuck,” I ground out as I came–hard–spending in pulses straight down his throat. I had him pressed
against me, his beard scraping my skin, the rough prickle making my whole body shudder.
He tapped my thigh. I eased up.
Milo pulled off with a sharp inhale, sucking in air like he’d been starved for it. He rose, water sliding off his shoulders, and I caught him by the back of the neck and dragged his mouth to mine.
He rocked against me as we kissed.
My right hand found him, pumping him rough, and he chased it immediately, thrusting into my fist with

hungry speed. His hips snapped, and his sounds disappeared into my mouth while our tongues fought
for control.
He grunted, and then heat splattered between us, painting both our torsos.
“I fucking love you,” I murmured, forehead to forehead, eyes shut while my breathing tried to behave.
“I love you too,” he said, voice low. “That fire was bad. When I lost you in the smoke, I… panicked. A little. Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize.” I swallowed, still hearing the chaos in my head. “I panicked when I didn’t see you
behind me. We’re fine. You feel better?”
“Yeah,” he said. “But I’m starving.”
“Same,” I answered with a breath of a laugh.
I kissed him once more, and then we finished washing up like we hadn’t just lost our minds.
Out in the hallway on the way to the kitchen, the smell hit me and my mouth literally watered.
“What is all this?” I asked as we stepped in.
A big pot sat on the stove, and next to it were two fat loaves of pull–apart bread–cheesy, garlicky, the
kind that makes you weak.
“Scar brought it while we were out,” Brenna said. “Left a note saying she wasn’t letting us starve.”
Brenna was one of the five women on the department, and one of the two on our shift with Milo and
She’d said once, real plain, she didn’t hook up with coworkers. Breakups made the job messy.
“Damn,” I muttered. “I’m pissed we missed her. I’ll thank her for all of us after we eat.”
We lifted the lid and found noodles with shrimp. Seafood was my weakness, and Milo’s too.
We loaded plates, grabbed chunks of the bread, and when everyone finally sat and dug in, the table
filled with appreciative noises.
“Fuck, this is unreal,” Dylan said around a mouthful. “Your girl can cook. Hate that she’s already taken
-hot and feeds you? Perfect fucking woman.”
Milo wore a smug smile. I couldn’t help grinning back.
Yeah. Our girl.

Mari
God, I needed her to say yes. I liked her–really liked her–and Milo was already halfway gone on her. I’d seen it in the way he watched her when he thought nobody noticed. If I hadn’t wanted her too, it
would’ve driven me insane.
When Milo and I first met, he’d been sitting on the beach right beside my stuff. I’d come out of the
water and clocked him there and immediately assumed he was about to grab my shit and run.
I watched him for a solid five minutes, then walked up and ran my mouth–some smartass line about
shoving my cock down his throat.
He’d looked up and said maybe he wanted that.
The shock lasted maybe a second. I hauled him into the nearest bathroom and had him on me almost immediately. He’d been eager, and he’d taken all of me–no hesitation, no struggle. Nobody had ever
done that.
I used him, and he didn’t just allow it–he liked it.
We had been glued together ever since.
I fell hard and fast, and when he gave it back to me, I’d been stupidly happy. Still, every time someone
flirted with him, jealousy lit up in me like gasoline.
Milo loved it.
Sometimes he’d flirt on purpose just to get under my skin, and I’d always make a point of reminding
everyone exactly who he was with–dragging him away for a public kiss, or pulling him somewhere private and making him swallow my dick.
One night at one of our clubs, I came out of the restroom and found some woman with her hands all
over his bare chest while he lounged on a couch. Milo caught my eye and smirked.
We weren’t there for a threesome.
We were there to be seen.
I shoved her off him, bent him over, yanked his pants down, lubed us up, and fucked him in front of
everyone. I smacked his ass, made him say who he belonged to.
That was the night it clicked: he was doing it on purpose.
He was a brat.
He liked being handled.
I should’ve known.

A year ago, we’d been in bed, and I’d been restless for days. I loved him, but something had felt unfinished, like we were missing a piece and I couldn’t name it.
I was still trying to figure out how to say it when he rolled over and blurted that he wanted a woman in
our relationship.
Everything inside me had gone, oh.
Me too.
That was it.
We talked it through, and we had decided we’d date women–separately at first–women we were both attracted to. We did for six months, but nobody fit. Not really.
I was starting to think it wasn’t going to happen for us.
Then Milo told me about a shy girl he’d bumped into at the grocery store.
For weeks he talked about her, and he still hadn’t asked her out. That was what threw me–Milo didn’t
get nervous like that.
When he told me he had eaten her out at the gym and how fucking hot it had been, I hadn’t felt jealous
even once.
I had gotten excited.
Then he told me about their date. Then about Club Drei.
And I had been all in.
The first time I saw her, it stole my breath. Tasting her, fucking her, even just talking with her–it had hooked me. Whatever chemistry the three of us had, it wasn’t subtle. It was violent, electric.
I also liked just being around her–hanging out with her and her friend. Tomorrow’s bonfire was going to be a good time. A few of the guys were coming; Dylan was one. Blaire and Maris–the other woman.
on our shift–were coming too.
“She’s something special,” I said.
Milo bumped my leg under the table. I looked over.
He blew me a kiss.
I sent one right back.
Later, when we headed toward the bunks, I checked my phone. A message from Scar sat there. When I

opened it, there was a video attached.
Milo was staring at his own screen, and the lust in his eyes made my curiosity flare.
I hit play.
My breath caught.
“Holy shit,” I breathed.
“Mmhmm,” Milo answered.
Merm
When she dropped to her knees and crawled toward that chair, a low growl slipped out of me. Her ass
was fucking perfect.
Then the crop showed up.
I actually gasped–full–on gasped–as she brought it down across herself. When the red marks
bloomed, my cock was already stone hard, and I could feel precum wetting my sweats.
“This fucking girl,” I muttered when the video ended.
I glanced at Milo.
He was sitting on my bed, hand down his pants, jerking off while he replayed it.

I wanted to fuck him so badly my teeth ached.
But when I looked around, even with our cubicle empty, reality shoved its way in. If I did what I wanted and someone walked in–no matter how much they liked us–it would get reported.
I groaned, pissed off and frustrated.
So I did the only thing I could.
I took my phone to the bathroom and handled it myself.
