He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 131

Chapter 131: The Best Seats

Joseph lowered his voice deliberately as he addressed the man beside him, his tone respectful and measured—an unmistakable sign of deference. Anthony caught a quick, curious glance at the figure Joseph referred to as “Mr. Rosewood.” Who exactly was this man? The name was unfamiliar to him, and he had never heard of the Rosewood family in all of Capaville. His curiosity deepened as he wondered why Joseph was treating this stranger with such reverence.

Eugene, however, paid no attention to Joseph’s behavior. Instead, he turned calmly toward Chloe and asked with genuine concern, “Are you okay?” Chloe responded with a slight, reassuring nod, though her expression remained reserved.

Joseph lingered nearby, wearing an awkward smile that barely masked his unease. Eugene’s gaze then shifted to Landon, and with a simple, firm tone, he said, “Let’s head to the auction.”

“Right this way, Mr. Rosewood,” Joseph said quickly, stepping forward to lead the group. “This year’s auction features some truly remarkable pieces—there are a few that you definitely won’t want to miss.”

Landon gave Anthony a dismissive look, who was still standing frozen in place, and chose to ignore him completely. Calling softly to Chloe, he said, “Come on, let’s go. Selina just texted—she’s already there waiting for us. She says she has a gift for you.”

“Okay,” Chloe replied quietly, following Landon as they moved away.

Left alone, Anthony’s frustration boiled over. He slammed his fist against the wall, the sharp sound echoing in the quiet hallway. As the heir of the Ruiz family, he was accustomed to respect and recognition from every prominent household in Capaville. When had he ever been treated with such disregard?

Watching Joseph and the others disappear down the corridor, Anthony realized that Joseph’s harsh slap must have been because of that mysterious man. His pride stung deeply.

“Find out who that man is,” Anthony ordered one of his bodyguards sharply. Then, turning to another, he barked, “And get me some ice for my face—right now!”

With less than ten minutes remaining before the auction began, guests were already making their way toward the grand hall. The atmosphere buzzed with quiet anticipation, the air heavy with the scent of polished wood and faint traces of expensive cologne.

“Oh, really? I haven’t looked at our seats yet,” Madilyn replied, lifting her chin with a trace of annoyance. To her, no matter how quickly the Ford family was climbing the social ladder, they still didn’t compare to the Myers. The Fords had only ever qualified for silver invitations before, and now they had gold? Madilyn suspected there was something underhanded behind their sudden upgrade.

“I already checked,” Virginia insisted, pointing toward the seating area. “Our families are in the same section—the second row from the front.”

Madilyn glanced in the direction Virginia indicated. The seats offered an excellent view of the auction stage, positioned directly behind the front row where Joseph and his VIPs would be seated. Aside from sitting beside Joseph himself, this was as close as anyone could get to the center of power.

But knowing she would be sitting next to the Fords dulled Madilyn’s satisfaction.

“Will you be joining me after the auction?” Virginia asked with a sly smile, noticing Madilyn’s impatience. “I’ve been checking out some new handbag collections recently—I remember you’re quite the enthusiast! We should definitely talk about them.”

Madilyn forced a polite smile, already dreading the conversation to come.
