He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 177

**Chapter 177: The Sudden Kidnap**

Chloe was on the brink of articulating her thoughts to Landon when, without warning, a hand clamped around her wrist. A shadowy figure lunged forward, yanking her with alarming force. Before she could grasp the unfolding chaos, she found herself thrust into the back seat of a car that had screeched to a halt at the curb, its arrival almost surreal, as if it had been lying in wait for just this moment.

The world around her blurred into a cacophony of confusion. Someone hoisted her into the front passenger seat, and in a heartbeat, the seatbelt clicked into place across her chest, binding her in place. It was only after the initial shock wore off that she managed to focus on the man beside her—it was Arthur.

“Arthur, have you completely lost your mind?” Chloe’s voice was a mix of disbelief and anger. She had never anticipated that Arthur would resort to such reckless behavior. What on earth could have compelled him to show up like this?

“If I had lost my mind, I wouldn’t be exhibiting this level of control,” Arthur shot back, his tone sharp and unwavering. “Chloe, for your own safety, just sit still. I’m trying to rescue you from your own reckless decisions.”

Chloe was left momentarily speechless, her thoughts racing. She had never seen this side of Arthur, a man who usually exuded calmness.

In a swift motion, Arthur slid into the driver’s seat, his demeanor shifting to one of urgent determination. Landon, realizing that it was Arthur who was causing the upheaval, rushed forward, intent on stopping him. But in an instant, Arthur’s foot slammed down on the accelerator, and the car surged forward, aimed directly at Landon.

“Arthur, are you trying to get yourself killed?!” Landon shouted, barely managing to leap back in time to avoid the speeding vehicle.

Arthur cast him a cold, disdainful glance before flooring the gas pedal, the car tearing away from the scene with Chloe still inside.

As Arthur’s car sped away, a sleek black sedan glided to a stop at the entrance of the LOVE headquarters. The rear window slid down smoothly, and in that fleeting moment, Chloe’s gaze locked with the man seated inside.

Eugene was in the back seat. The moment the window lowered, he instinctively looked up, only to witness the shocking sight of Chloe being forcibly pulled into a car and whisked away right before his eyes.

The black sedan halted completely, and Eugene wasted no time. He pushed the door open and stepped out, his eyes scanning the now desolate road where Arthur’s car had just vanished.

His expression hardened, turning icy.

“Chloe was supposed to hold a press conference to clear her name. We only have 45 minutes left, and Arthur actually dared to kidnap her,” Landon reported as he approached Eugene, urgency threading through his words. “He moved with such speed; it’s as if he had been lying in wait for this very moment.”

Eugene’s expression darkened further as he continued to stare down the empty road, his mind racing with possibilities.

Bruce exited the car, quickly assessing the situation before leaning closer to Eugene, his voice low. “Mr. Rosewood, should I pursue them?”

“Arthur, what exactly is your plan here?” Chloe finally asked, her voice steady, but beneath the calm surface lay a current of anxiety.

Arthur’s jaw tightened at her question, and his grip on the steering wheel became so intense that his knuckles turned white.

“Chloe, after all the chaos you’ve stirred up, you have nothing to say to me?” His voice was frigid, laced with a barely contained fury. Even before he had seized her, he had been battling to keep his temper in check.

Was this really how low she had sunk? To showcase other people’s work as her own?

Was this all just a misguided attempt to prove her worth, to show that she could earn a living and hold a respectable job?

“Why would I have anything to say to you? Who do you think you are to me?” Chloe let out a sharp, incredulous laugh, irritation flaring in her chest. He had appeared out of nowhere, created this scene, dragged her into a car, and now sped away without offering any explanation. Yes, she was furious.

“Who am I? You know exactly who I am,” Arthur snapped back, his voice rising with intensity. “Chloe, even though we’re divorced, I’m still your ex-husband. I have every right to question why you’re degrading yourself like this—risking your reputation for a fleeting moment in the spotlight.”

“You’re accusing me of degrading myself?” Chloe stared at him, her disbelief palpable. The absurdity of his words was almost laughable, and yet they stung. She pointed at herself, repeating the question, as if trying to comprehend the very notion.
