He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 292

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 292: The Live Apology**

Chloe cast a fleeting glance at Jonathan, a hint of a smile dancing on her lips, as if momentarily lost in thought.

“Finished,” she murmured to herself, the weight of the moment settling in.

“Launching now isn’t just risky—it’s downright perilous,” Wesley retorted, his voice sharp and filled with urgency. “Look at the chaos unfolding! The president of Myers Group is about to make a statement. Who can predict what he’ll say? Reporters are swarming, not just local ones but international press too. If this spirals out of control, it’ll be front-page news across the globe.”

Wesley’s exasperation was palpable as he let out a heavy sigh, the air thick with tension. “If this situation erupts,” he pressed on, “Ms. Lewis could find herself ousted from LOVE. She may even have to sever ties with Cosmos Group entirely.”

His words hung in the air like a storm cloud, and Landon’s gaze instinctively drifted toward Eugene, who remained eerily still, as if frozen in time.

Eugene had been a statue since he took his place at the table, calm and composed, his demeanor almost theatrical. His eyes, however, betrayed a flicker of emotion as they frequently wandered in Chloe’s direction, filled with a mix of admiration and concern.

Landon let out a resigned sigh. Eugene’s intentions were painfully transparent.

The way Eugene regarded Chloe was unmistakable—his gaze brimming with affection, an unspoken connection that felt almost tangible.

Eugene understood the stakes for the company all too well. Cosmos Group was already hemorrhaging money, and pushing forward with LOVE’s new collection at this juncture would throw Chloe directly into the tempest. If the situation deteriorated, she wouldn’t just face professional ruin—Eugene, the primary investor in the entire venture, would also be thrust into the limelight, facing the fallout.

Numerous senior executives at Cosmos Group had already voiced their dissatisfaction, their murmurs of discontent echoing through the halls.

If Arthur chose to side with Jennifer now, Chloe—his actual ex-wife—would forever be branded as the “other woman.” Even if she attempted to clarify her position later, it would be a futile endeavor.

That was the nature of public perception. Once you were put in a position to defend yourself against rumors, you had already lost the battle.

Landon was left in the dark about whether Eugene and Chloe had a backup plan. But given that Eugene signed his paycheck, he felt the weight of obligation as an employee.

How could he possibly question his superior?

“Enough already. It’s just a live stream, and you’re all talking this much? Let’s quiet down and focus on Arthur’s performance…” Landon’s voice cut through the chatter, firm and unyielding, leaving no room for dissent.

His authoritative command silenced the room instantly.

With the sudden hush, the conference room transformed into a sanctuary of stillness. The audio from the large screen became crystal clear, as if the very air had thickened with anticipation.

Simultaneously, the raucous venue visible on the screen fell silent.

The room fell into a hushed silence. Every ear strained to catch his next words.

“The earlier reports about my engagement to Jennifer are indeed true. I won’t deny it.” Arthur’s words were straightforward, devoid of any hint of remorse—merely a declaration of facts.

In the conference room, the audience watching the live stream held their breath in collective disbelief. Wesley was so agitated he nearly leapt to his feet, but one glance at Landon’s stern expression compelled him to remain seated.

The cameras stayed trained on Arthur, capturing every syllable as murmurs rippled through the crowd. It appeared that today’s press conference was Arthur’s declaration of support for Jennifer.

If Arthur had personally confirmed Jennifer as his fiancée, did that imply that Chloe, the enigmatic figure in the background, had truly come between them?

Chloe had not stepped forward to utter a single word. No one knew her whereabouts at that moment.

Perhaps she was paralyzed by the fear of being branded a homewrecker, prompting her to retreat into the shadows.

Just as reporters were poised to break the story, Arthur spoke once more.

“I owe Chloe an apology. I’ve caused her a great deal of trouble. That is my fault. I should have managed this situation better. I’m truly sorry.” Arthur bowed again, this time directly toward the camera, as if he were addressing the viewer watching through the screen.
