He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 308

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**

**Chapter 308: Breaking Ties**

Madilyn’s gaze sharpened, her eyes narrowing as she observed Charles and Arthur retreating into the distance. A slow, simmering realization settled within her; she had just overheard Arthur giving Donald explicit instructions to recruit an entirely new staff for the suburban villa. These individuals were to be outsiders, people who had never been part of the Lewis family’s inner circle, effectively sidelining the long-serving household staff.

Charles had always maintained a demeanor of cold detachment towards her, a mask that had begun to crack. Was this abrupt change in his behavior a signal that he harbored suspicions?

Equally perplexing was his newfound attitude towards Arthur. Had he truly severed his emotional ties to Chloe so effortlessly? Or had he stumbled upon secrets that were meant to remain buried? The thought nagged at her—was he genuinely ready to abandon Arthur as well?

If that were indeed the case, then Madilyn found herself in a corner with no other options left to consider.

The Myers Group would never slip from Arthur’s grasp while she was around.

If Charles played his cards right and recognized where he stood, he could enjoy a peaceful existence for the remainder of his days. But if he dared to cross her, she would not hesitate to take decisive action.

After all, if she had once been capable of rendering him a powerless invalid, orchestrating a timely and plausible demise would be child’s play.

A chilling glint flickered in Madilyn’s eyes as she reached for her phone, her fingers trembling slightly as she typed a message to Jennifer: “Charles has agreed to the wedding.” The weight of her words hung in the air, heavy with implications.

Upon her arrival at the Lewis Group headquarters, Chloe was intercepted by Gordon Wills, one of the senior executives whose presence commanded respect.

Today marked the annual renewal of the cooperation agreement between the Lewis Group and the Myers Group. Representatives from Myers Group had arrived right on schedule, eager to finalize the contract.

However, following Chloe’s directive, the Lewis Group would not be extending the partnership this time around.

“Ms. Lewis,” Gordon began, his tone serious and authoritative, “the collaboration between Myers Group and Lewis Group has spanned many years. Each year, they inject 500 million into our development. If we sever this partnership now, that significant investment will vanish. Considering the current financial state of our company…”

Chloe listened intently, her mind racing as he continued.

“Lewis Group’s growth has been stagnant for quite some time. It’s only through the annual investment from Myers Group that we have managed to maintain stability. Ending this agreement could very well hasten our decline.”

“Mr. Lewis,” she interjected firmly, her voice steady. “I am fully in charge of company operations this month. As deputy general manager, I am responsible for high-level decisions regarding the future development of the company. Others may observe and offer input, but they cannot interfere.”

“You—” Scott’s frustration bubbled to the surface, his finger pointing accusingly at her. “Canceling the partnership with Myers Group means losing 500 million. With the company already facing losses, where do you expect to find that amount to fill the gap? You claim you’ll turn the company around and generate profit within a month. That’s nothing but a fantasy!”

“Do you think 500 million is a joke?”

“Finding new partners? In this economic climate? Who would casually invest 500 million in a struggling company—”

“That’s enough, Mr. Lewis,” Chloe cut him off, her tone sharp. “You’re merely reiterating the same points Mr. Wills made earlier. I have made my decision; the partnership is over. I will find new partners on my own. If you have so much free time, I suggest you go home and rest.” With that, she turned on her heel and stepped into her office, closing the door firmly behind her.

Scott stood there, fuming with indignation, his anger palpable in the air. Yet, despite his position as chairman, he found himself powerless against her resolve.

The executive order that granted her full authority had been signed by him. For the next month, all company matters would fall under Chloe’s purview.

Shortly after she assumed control, Chloe initiated a comprehensive audit of all company data. Just as the reports were about to be submitted, an unexpected visitor appeared—none other than Arthur himself.
